Motu Ultralite

Post by KL77 »

Hi Altoids,

I have tried all of the suggestions and have had no success. I am really becoming outdone with the Motu Ultralite. I have had no success with the MIDI being recognized by the Mac or the softwares (Garageband, Reason 3.0, and Cubase SE3). I consider myself a newbie with some experience, but I am totally lost right now and it getting frustrating since nothing seems to work. I will be calling tech support tomorrow to see if there is a way for me to get a refund. I am tired of trying all the tricks and no results. I sent tech support and email and received no response. I will not be recommending this device to anyone and will be giving bad reviews on all the online retailers to warn people away from Motu.
Much Respect,

Hi KL77,

I'm sorry to hear that but, since my UltraLite is running fine with my MacBookPro, I think it may perhaps be something specific to your system.

Have you tried searching for Motu MIDI Driver.plugin, using Spotlight?
Maybe you have multiple copies of Motu MIDI Driver.plugins installed on your system that's confusing the Audio MIDI Setup?

Here are a couple other suggestions...
••• Locate Motu MIDI Driver.plugin and manually drag it into below directory, if it isn't already there:
HD/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers Æ’ (remember, it's the root Library Æ’, not your local user Library Æ’)

••• If you have third party MIDI Driver.plugins in MIDI Driver Æ’, try removing them temporarily (you can drag them out to the desktop), leaving only the Motu MIDI Driver.plugin.

Good luck, KL77 and keep us posted...

Motu Ultralite

Post by KL77 »

Hi Altoids,

I decided to re-install the OS system and start over to see if I could find out what the problem was with the Ultralite. In reinstalling the disc, before adding Reason 3.0 and Cubase SE3, I found that the Motu MIDI Driver.plugin was not loaded from the Motu Install disc. Once I downloaded the firewire update the motu MIDI Driver.plugin showed up and I followed your advice and the Ultralite is up and running. I have to admit that I hated having to re-install but it was the only way to see what the problem was. Thanks for all your advice and support you really helped me get through this.

WENT TO BUY A NEW FIREWIRE GOLD CABLE AND NOW NO MORE STOPS OR CRACKLES......

THE CABLE IS CALLED PROFIGOLD (by bandridge) , it says that is has 24k gold plated contacts that ensures optimum signal transfer...

I HOPE THIS HELPS OTHER PEOPLE TOO

THANKS A LOT FOR ALL THE ADVICES AND NOTES,
