Traveler Mic Ins and Line Ins

Post by Elec »

Hi,
I want to buy a Traveler, because I‘m not satisfied by the 410 of M-Audio and got a good working 896HD. I don‘t have this deciding problem with my 896, but with the Traveler.
I can connect up to 4 Mics to the Traveler. But what to do when I want to connect more Mics? I know I can connect my 896HD to the Traveler, but is it possible to use the Line Ins of the Traveler to connect 4 Mics plus to the Mic Inputs? Thanks

The Traveler has 4 mic preamps and 4 more analog inputs. If you had additional stand-along mic pre's you could likely run those into the four 1/4" ins on the Traveler.
OR you could use the CueMix on the 896HD to route its 8 mic inputs directly to its ADAT out and then send that output via an optical cable to the Traveler. This would give you the 4 mic ins on the Trav plus 8 additional mic ins via the Trav's ADAT input port.
Or you could use something like the Focusrite Platinum OctoPre with its ADAT A/D card via the scheme as the 896HD scenario.
There are several other possibilities, of course, but the main thing to keep in mind is that if you wanna use more than 4 mics with a Traveler you are going to need additional mic preamps.
"Where do these stairs go?" ...
"They go up."
