What to do with Adats/BRC?
Anybody have any suggestions with what to do with my Alesis studio? I have 3 Adat xt's and a BRC with all of the sync cabling in immaculate/mint condition. I have finished archiving/transferring all of my library to DP and don't know what to do with this stuff. What is it worth? Is it worth selling/keeping. Do I make a planter out of it? Are any of you guys keeping this stuff around for anything? Thanx J.

Yes, ebay - and don't expect much. Or give 'em to a musician friend in trade for them to play on some projects (with the agreement that they have to learn to operate the adats w/out your help!!!).

You should do that, then take it to the Mercenary Audio booth ( http://www.mercenary.com/shitonastick.html ) at Summer NAMM. Those guys (not I) hate ADATS and I'm sure that they would get a kick out of it.Do I make a planter out of it?
Or you could be selfish and just sell it.

well, depending on what you do for money. i have a friend who recently has been using his old DAT machine, to transfer DATs to computer files. for money! as in, people actually have DATs, and no DAT machine. walla. so maybe some bands out there have some ADAT tape from old sessions, that do, or will want transfered?
otherwise, pretty much junk i'd imagine. well, i'm sure they might be worth something. nothing is really worthless. but..

I have three XT's too: I keep two of them for spare parts for the one I'm not using. The vacuum fluorescent displays are still among the nicest I've ever seen, and provide excellent mood lighting, which I imagine the BRC would only enhance.
Seriously, unless you're running a commercial studio, where they might occasionally come in handy, I'd say sell them on eBay too. If you have the ELCO cables, they might be worth selling separately, as there are other applications for them. You're one big step ahead of me in the archive department, or mine would be gone too...congratulations on that!
