any access virus TI/DP users able to share their experience
I love the ACCESS sounds, and am facinated by this TI concept......I hear "mixed reviews" that the os does not deliver the features marketed....
$2600.00 is a lot of money for me considering I need to get a new mactel and software updates, etc.....
Can anybody share experience/opinion so far?
Thank You

Me too! Unfortunately even the next OS update (now nearly a month overdue) won't make the TI compatible with DP - Access has said DP compatibility will be implemented some time after that.I love the ACCESS sounds, and am facinated by this TI concept
For now I'd stay clear unless you don't need/want the TI. Overall MIDI-only people are the only ones who have anything nice to say about these synths.

to be honest, I just returned my TI keyboard. It was so buggy, stuck note, no TI, etc......I'm looking into an access "C". There is much discord on those forums, but few use dp.dix wrote:Me too! I am new to hardware, been a long time reason user.
I keep having to remind my self that great music is/was created with regular MIDI in/out. But then again, the access sound is the sound all others will be compared to......electronica speaking at least.

I'm on the access list and I have a TI (and a B for that matter). If your looking to use the Virus Control plugin feature, as others have said, it's not really working in DP. I stopped even trying to use it.
If you hook it up like any other synth, MIDI and Audio in, then it works okay. Depending on how you clock it, you might have some issues. I run mine with it's own internal clock and just set the tempo if I need to depending on the song, not ideal, but works.
I do get stuck notes some time, mostly when changing patches really fast while MIDI is playing.
I won't be returning mine. The sound is THAT good to me, and I own quite an extensive number of synths. I think it was worth the investment because they are working to fix the problems. I can use it now, just not in the TI way, and that is fine for me. I'm not convinced that the USB overhead of using TI is worth it anyways.

lol: Yes it does sound that good. But considering It took me some time to launder, cheat and steal from my family (wife, 3 year old and cat) It had to be 100% worh it......
Besides voices (32 vs 80), hyper saw and moog emulation. How would you rate the B as far as programability and bugginess?

Just updated to DP5.01 and Virus TI OS 1.1 beta and it works!
There is a bit of a delay when playing the virus, but it can be solved using the MIDI time shift plugin. What is important is that syncing between DP and the Virus seems pretty accurate - although it could be improved.
Not ideal, but a step closer

Awesome! I've not installed the beta yet, I'm too busy writing an AU at the moment for a song I am working on.

I had an original Virus and dumped it as soon as I got the virus plugin from TC.
Never looked back.

DP 5.13 dual G5 2.7 synced to dual 1.42 via SMPTE, Muse Receptor (filled with Stylus RMX, Trilogy, Atmosphere, Elektrik piano, Disco DSP), OSX.410, Ableton LIVE, Apogee Big Ben, Apogee mini DAC, MachV, Symphonic, Ethno, M-Tron, Mx-4,Latigo, Jupiter Vi, iDrum, Microtonic, Kontakt3, Bassline, Bassline Pro, Ultra Focus, Novation Basstation, Novation Drum Station, Nord Lead2, JD-990, EMU Proteus, Orbit 2, MicroKorg, UAD, Poco, Altiverb, VW2, Waves, Ozone, to name a few

I don't think the virus powercore compares to the TI at all. If you haven't had a chance to play with one, I'd check one out

I agree, I need to try one. But if it's not working with DP, I'll wait.

Understood. I use mine stand-alone. Since I use so many different external synths, I'd rather not bog down my system with another USB device. I know I loose some of the great functionality of the unit, but it still fits in with my other hardware synth paradigm. Add to that you only have 4 output lines through the USB (2 stereo busses) I could just run those into my 896 as I have a few extra lines.
That said, if I record through digital, I'd have zero noise added. But the unit isn't noisy so I haven't cared.

Yes, the powercore virus was my first introduction to the virus as well. I love it, but became facinated by "hardware" all over agian (considering all the mid 90's romplers that I have collecting dust). I understand the powercore virus is built around the virus b specs (which are amazing, considering all my favorite music was done with virus a/b, conventional MIDI, 16bit 44.1.... etc)TOD wrote:I had an original Virus and dumped it as soon as I got the virus plugin from TC.

Are you running single license, or multi?

Single....I just bounce indidvidual tracks as needed and only use it on my dual 2.7, (audio only machine)
The only Hardware I'm using right now is my NORD...can't ditch that beast.
Not to switch topics, but this week, we've been working on a remix for a major label and my MIDI / VI dual 450 synced perfectly via light pipe and SMPTE. to my dual 2.7. I was running MachV, MSI, Ethno, Some 303 VI, and MUSE receptor with Trilogy and Stylus RMX simultaneously.
One negative I had was stuck MIDI notes the more MIDI I added.

Check which MIDI driver you are using, some have seen better results with 1.3.1, but actually, that probably depends on which interfaces you are using.
I was getting stuck notes on an incoming midisport on my mini, whereas everything else being driven by my main system (XpressXT) wasn't having issues, so I figured it had to be the midisport.

Continued reports on the TI functionality are greatly appreciated. I work very tight deadlines and have zero time for betas, but I really want this synth! I have a B and love it, but it's the TI aspect that makes this Virus attractive (w/o it I'll stick w the B).
Is the TI just as ready for prime-time, plug-and-play as any other VI?
Is it DP compatible? The original 1.1 press release said DP compatiblity'd come some time later. Where we at?
thanks
