Hi Art,

You're right when you mention that you end up with lots of soundbites with "edge edit copy" enabled. However, when things are working correctly each new soundbite has a unique name. In my case (and apparently Zed's) the soundbites multiplied but each one had exactly the same name and durations as it's siblings. Definitely not working the way things are supposed to.

BTT - bloated file size.

Post by rsaltmarsh »

Ok, I have read about those of you who also suffered from a huge DP file, and I know what to do once I get back into it. My problem is that I didn't discover the huge file until after I close out of the project and now DP just hangs, with the spinning rainbow, when I try to open the file back up. This is way bad as there is a days worth of vocal comping and pitch correction that took place. I tried loading it into a new project, no luck. Any help would be really appreciated. again, DP won't even open the huge file now. It's 190 MB.

Sorry to hear it rsaltmarsh.

Not really sure what to suggest, aside from maybe getting someone with a more powerful system to try to open your project, so that you can merge all the audio, and delete all the duplicates. Perhaps deleting the DP preferences would help you open the file, but I'm not sure. I didn't quite get to the stage where the file was too big for my system to handle. Which Mac are you using, out of curiosity?

Good luck! I hope maybe someone else will have another suggestion for you.

Dave, that's exactly what I did.. only I shut off the motu audio system, and loaded it into another new project. After about 30 minutes, it had loaded. I then flushed the history, deleted unused soundbites and wha-la... a nice 164 KB file. :D I'll be sure to watch my file sizes on saves from now on. Thanks for all your help. Zed.. I have a G5 Dual 2.0 Ghz with 2.5 Gig Ram, OS X 4.2. Another fun day at the office!! LOL

you shouldn't shut the system off, it'll convert everything to 44.1 if you have automatic conversions enabled.....
