RME 800 issues?

im setting up a friends system ...he just bought a new g4(intell) and i wanted to know if the rme fireface runs well with dp....i heard there might be some issues with dp .......has anyone heard ant stories? ....ty bobby

Geese i hate to be the one telling you that D.P does not work on intel for now, and probably not till they recode the software . However i have the fireface with D.P on a dual 2 gig g5 and im completely satisfied with the match. I do all my recordings at 96k with a combination of a Studer 169 analog front end and use the fireface to convert, and that is as close as i can get to a full blown pro studio with neve/ssl/analog board combo. I must also say that for the down conversion to cd resolution i use a apogee rosetta 200, it does a much better job than the fireface.So to resume, the fireface is more than just very good, i would say that the converters on it are about in third place if you start from the very top, still very good if you combine that with good basic work methods, but for the down conversion,if you are doing something pro, id go for the apogee. Lets hope the recode for intel comes soon, then recording on a pportable will really be worth it in my opinion.

so momo...i downloaded the drivers for the motu/ intell update....these are obviously for the motu related hardware......are u saying motu still has'nt recoded dp4.6 for the new intell macs?im a litlle confused here?am i missing somthing? aloha
