DP 4.5x and 4.6x, Reason 2.5 and Stuck notes via rewire

Post by dcate1971 »

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone has run into this problem and solved it.

I have the above apps. The problem occurs when sending MIDI via a MIDI track to reason 2.5 in rewire/slave mode.

In DP's preferences under MIDI patch thru, if I set it to standard "Sync Recorded MIDI to Patch Thru" I get random stuck notes in Reason, especially when performing. These stuck notes will record onto a track. It doesn't seem to happen to other software synths or my hardware, though I haven't been pounding them as much. Setting to Use CoreMIDI patch Thru will cause the notes to stick continuously, as if MIDI in reason is not getting the off message. I switched to CoreMIDI to stop the stuck note problem, and it worked for a little while. I think the problem started when I performed an "Add Similar Track" in DP.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Dan

Here's my setup:

G5 2gHz, 1gig RAM (I know I need more), Mac OS 10.3.9, DP 4.6.1, Reason 2.5, MTP-AV USB, MOTU MIDI driver vers 1.3.1

Hi

I had same type of thing with Reason 3.04 when I bought new
M-audio Radium 49 keyboard. Stuck MIDI notes were there even if
Reason was running alone. (MIDI drivers were updated.)
So I just went back to my earlier MIDI device Midiman USB midisport 2x2
and after that again I have no stuck notes.

Other thing is that if you are using big stack in Reason when Rewired, it
may cause CPU overload and trouble.

So I think that different MIDI drivers and devises act weird sometimes
with some applications and fine with others.

There must be some things about your setup in MOTU support pages.
That‘s all I know about this.

Thanks Jarok,

It's not a MIDI driver issue, other VI's are fine. What I ended up doing was trashing reason altogether and reinstalling it. Seems fine for now....

Thanks
