Glad I'm not the only one. My computer is almost always on, though, just sleeping when I'm not around, so it doesn't matter a great deal to me, but it's always been annoying when I try to shut down for a storm or something. Thank goodness it's OS X, and not OS9. That caused real trouble in the old days.

Computer Restarts Endlessly / MTP AV
My Dual 800 G4 with OSX 10.4.8 restarts endlessly when powering down when the MTP AV is plugged directly into the USB port of the computer.
Even when you pull the power plug and leave it out for an hour, it restarts when you put the power plug back in.
Here's a partial fix: Leave the MTP AV power "On" when shutting down the computer. It seems to happen only when the MTP power is "Off".
Only other solution is to plug the MTP AV into a powered hub but MOTU does not recommend it as they say they've had some timing and synch problems in some cases.
Any other solutions?
Best,
