Latest news about machfive 2

Post by samueltournan »

Hello, I'm french. Today I went to "univers sons" (Universal Sound Bank's shop in Paris. As you may know those guys are the ones who made the UVI engine that runs Spectrasonics Trilogy, Atmosphere, Machfive...). Their team who was working on Machfive 2 code has enventually finished the job! M52 release date is a matter of weeks now (they said two monthes but only Motu knows for sure since USB has done their part of the job, the baby is in America now!).

Ethnic should follow as they've not finished it yet (they said it's almost finished).

No kidding.

Well, I hope it ends up being worth the wait.

My uneducated opinion: I think MOTU's lost a lot of ground to NI and Kontakt in the soft sampler arena. For them to catch up, M5 2 ought to have capabilities and library sounds comparable to Kontakt at the least..

It will be - at least for new M5 owners from the last 12-18 months or so ......I forget exactly how far back the offer goes

So what about the people who arent new owners of M5, but who payed for the deveolpment of M5 2 for new owners of M5 1.2.3 and who also put up with numerous anomalies /bugs in M5 1 - M5 1.2.3... ?

Why it took so long

Post by samueltournan »

They're late because at USB labs M5 developement was interrupted: they had to release MSI instead and M5.2 is something truly bigger than the present version 1. Also, they got a lot of work with the Ethnic since it shares its audio with M5 2

If you own M5, but aren't one of the new M5 owners who purchased by that free upgrade date, then you paid for the development of -- um -- the original M5?

I was thinking: I bought a VW Jetta a little over a year ago. Those guys owe me a free new Jetta. I should find a VW user bulletin board and lodge my complaint.

Aw, just having fun with you, man.

Anyway, if you feel your complaint is legit, forward it to MOTU. Maybe they'll work something out for you?

Mach Five 2 will be worth the wait...I'm still using 1.08 AU and it rocks 10 hours a day for me. I have Kontakt 2 and I can't seem to find a single sound in it's huge 13Gig library that moves me...it's also very cumbersom to use. Just relax, pay for the MachFive upgrade when it hits, use it with all of the latest libraries...be thankful, make music. Viva Le France!

I agree, I don't want whatever new sound library, just give me a sampler that works. The one i've had for the last 2 years rarely has, until the last 6 months or so, and even then it's still shakey.
It'd go a long way to eliminating a lot of the bad vibe that has attributed to MOTU because of this product. If it's so great they'll get plenty of new customers from the word of mouth alone.

It must be said that Mach V 1 is fantastic. i have been able to convert many libraries and it works great. I am just excited to know that it can be even more powerful in it's next incarnation. I have dropped every piece of hardware except my Ensoniq DP4 reverb which i love.
other than that all is being sold off.

Mach V II. allez! VITE!
