MachFive sound quality

Post by Jim731 »

I recently upgraded from Panther to Tiger (OS 10.4.3) and the quality of sample playback in MachFive is now noticeably "crappy" (that is a technical term). It sounds tinny, muffled, and buzzy - as if it's coming from a tin can. When I play the same sound file with quicktime it sounds great. In both cases audio is routed through my dual 2 ghz Mac's built-in audio line out to a pair of powered speakers. Are there some Tiger issues that are causing this that I am unaware of? Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Jim

I have moved to Tiger recently too, and everything is fine.
May be you could try to update to 10.4.5.

Thanks for the suggestion - but I have heard of problems with 10.4.5 with other software (namely Final Cut Pro) and I don't want to screw up my other programs as well.

I'm not sure where you heard about "problems", but Final Cut Pro
is operating with no problems under 10.4.5 for me.
