There are a few solutions besides the Microtrack including the Edirol R1 and Marantz PMD660, however for what you'll be using this for...the Microtrack is the most affordable and should fit the bill just fine.
Thank you,

I just used the Microtrack to record my friends' band (Philadelphia's Future Tips, featuring ex members of Matt Pond PA and current members if Audible) on Friday night. I have a pair of Innovative Specialists AT binaural headphone mics with a battery preamp built in.

Simple audience recording, but it turned out great for what it is and it's much more 3D than any minidisc recording that I've done. I bought the Microtrack for live recording and sample gathering, as well as band practice etc. Very happy with it. I recorded at 24bit/44.1kHz.
