Yamaha Motif ES8 keeps spewing SYSEX data... make it stop!!

Post by Bomberstudios »

I have no idea where this is coming from:

The Yamaha Motif ES8 just keeps spitting it out over MIDI out and it is in every recorded track (using Digital Performer). It does it non-stop - even when the keyboard is sitting idle. The MIDI input indicator on the MOTU Express XT (MIDI Port 1) flickers rapdily, so it's alot of data (same message over and over again). It does it with DP closed, open, no matter what...

For Motif owners, I've gone into Utility-->MIDI --- everything is set for extenal control & sync. I was digging around and found something about turning off SYSEX on the MIDI out port, did that too...

If I disconnect MIDI out cable from the Motif, then this sys-ex activity goes away. It's non-stop and causes continuous activity on the MIDI interface. I think it's some type of song sync or pointer thing, but I have no idea. Sysex isn't my thing. Any ideas what this is??? Here's a screen grab of what DP is capturing in a recorded track:

I'm 99% sure it's not a DP/MOTU issue, but a Motif thing. I'm going nutz and have a strong desired to chainsaw the Motif into tiny little pieces of rubble!!!!!!!
