About MIDI Express XT Par & Win XP

Post by autodafe »

Hallo,

I know that many people here had the same problem as mine...

Problem: Under Win XP The MIDI EXPRESS XT /parallel) was seen but then disappered after a few minutes

SOLUTION: launch the CLOCKWORKS application and leave it open ALL THE TIME. Looks like this app is regularly polling the system for the presence of the MID Interface...

Don't know if it's true, but it works !!! I am now using it with NO problems at all...

I'll wish that it keeps working for you, but don't get your hopes up.

I tried most of that stuff when I was messing with mine, and some seemed to work, but I'd eventually hit the disappearances anyway. There were also a few "oops, spoke too soon" posts I remember from when I was looking, from people who thought they had gotten everything ironed out, but hadn't, so I'd keep a close eye on it.

FWIW- I had gotten mine to work (not sure whether it was from the usual workarounds), but it still acted up off and on.

Also, the board in the MicroExpress says "MIDI Express/ Half Rack Unit" or something, so I'm guessing that at least those two hit the same bumps.

Watch the SysEx closely as well.

Take Care,
