New 16A cuemix questions, added few more!

Hello all!

just got 16a and installed.

cuemix5 looks pretty neat but I have no idea what's going on.

I only see

Discovery, Home, Device, Inputs, Outputs, Patchy, Mixing and Auxmixing on left column, very different than what I watched on YouTube (cuemix 5 for 828.)

few questions.

1. How can I see line inputs and outputs only ? as when I click Mixing I see all channels but I don't need all of that. I only need to see line in/line out.

so basically I want to see what's going out from DAW (in my case, cubase.) and physical line in/line out only.

how can I do this? when I click mixing tab, I only see host 1-16, then input 17- 66.

also I don't see any outputs on cue mix.


2. I want to monitor from other device, I connected via tousling and it's working but how can I set up toslink as main output so that I can control volume with big knob?


3. I installed cuemix 5 app but on my phone it doesn't see 16a. all I see is virtual 828, ultralite mk5 options.

what am I missing?

4. Motu's official cuemix5 for 828, there is MAIN 1-2 MIX, PHONES 1 MIX etc.... but I don't see any of them. is this normal?

I want to create 3-4 headphone mixes, what's best practice to this? going to use analog outputs -> into various headphone amps.



sorry if my explanation was somewhat confusing, but I really have no idea.

I' veneer using rme for a bit and Totalmix was pretty easy but I have no idea how cuemix 5 works.

After watching it kind of understood how patchbay works in cuemix 5. Still need more time to experiment but it looks simpler than previous web based version.

Then anybody know how I can create let’s say 4 stereo mix for musicians in ear with newer 16a?

I’m confusing as it doesn’t show main mix, line out 3-4, phones 1-2 etc… everything seems I have to figure out in mixing section but all buses, auxes makes me confusing.

What I want to do is

1. For general purpose. I need to hear cubase main out(i got this.) and have to create headphone mix for singer or guitar player.

2. For tracking multiple. I need to create 4 headphone outs. They don’t need to hear host1-2(cubase’s main output) as they’re just playing instruments so they just need to install cuemix5 app.

3. I can’t connect cuemix5 app on my iPhone. It doesn’t see 16a even though they’re using same WiFi or I typed 192.168.etc but still it doesn’t see.

yeap , checked it out and now I kind of figured.

so here comes few more as I now can connect few things inside patch bays after watching video and read manual.

1. in patchbay,

DEVICE - Motu's device physical input/ouputs
MIXER - Internal mixer
HOST - goes in to Daw or goes out from Daw, but it has to be patched within patchbay to use.

am I right?

2. is this possible to rename channels? as host 1 -> host 1(click) something like that.

3. still can't connect my phone to 16a using cuemix 5 app. seems little buggy, but anyone had luck connecting your phone or table to new 16a model?

4. is this possible to make Monitor (let's say group A on Output, left column) using Toslink as I use different DAC?

I guess I'm getting some answers from gear space so I'll move all question there but so far its been just headache... let’s see if I ever can get this work as I want!(hope i do!
