Does anyone out there know of an OS X app that would analyze crash-reports for us mere non-computer-savvy mortals?
I get DP 11 crashes at least once a day, and while I can find the actual crash-reports after I restart, I have no clue as to how actually read/analyze them?
I figured there must be something out there, but a quick search brought nothing up.
A friend who uses Windows told me there are a few such things for Windows users.
Thanks.

OSX Big Sur (latest). Mac Pro Late 2013 ("trash-can"), 3.5 Ghz 6-Core Intel XeonE5, 64GB RAM. Motu DP 11.31, Vienna Pro Server, Presonus Notion, Osculator, Keyboard Maestro, Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire.

I've used ChatGPT with some success to analyze crash reports. It won't accept the whole report-says it's too long, but it will accept the relevant couple of threads. Perhaps some of the other LLMs might be worth trying.

Re: App to Analyze DP OS X Crash Report
Make sure that you are updated to the latest version of DP 11 and your macOS. Apple released updates/bug fixes from Big Sur to Sequoia just last week.
Do a Safe Boot of your Mac — how depends on whether your Mac is AS or Intel. Reboot.
https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-hel ... enu%20bar.
Start DP in Safe Mode, then Quit and start normally.
That said, there are a number of plug-ins and other bugaboos that can cause DP to crash. Now's the time to get into crash reports.
Create a Support case in your User Account on motu.com and attach. DP 11.34 is rock solid for me over the latest build of Sequoia.

The above will reset System caches to default but does not clear Users cache — clearing that can solve a lot of problems. A whole lot of annoying problems disappeared when I discovered this one. Do the following:To start Digital Performer in Safe Mode on a Mac, launch the application as usual, but hold down the Option key immediately after the DP splash screen appears, and then select "Safe" from the Plug-In Set Selection window.
This often cures a lot of what ails a Mac and also resets Launch services for all your applications. This often cures crash on quit.Clear all cache files in this folder by sending to the Trash:
Users/(user name)/Preferences/com.motu.MotuAudioSystem
DP will re-scan and verify all of your plug-ins next time it starts which may take some time.
)Reset Launch Services
1. Open Terminal and run these commands:
2. /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -seed -lint -r -f -v -dump -domain local -domain system -domain user -domain network <Enter or Return key>
3. killall Dock <Enter or Return key>
4. mdutil -E / <Enter or Return key> <Enter or Return key>)
5. Restart your Mac

Re: App to Analyze DP OS X Crash Report
Hey thanks for both of these terrific suggestions!
I was just listening to a podcast with someone whose studio perished in the Palisades fire, and they were suggesting feeding your insurance contract into ChatGPI and it spitting out pertinent answers about coverage details.
With a grain of salt of course, but just figuring out what plugin is crashing DP for me would be helpful.
The cache-clearing sounds like a great idea also.
I'm still on a "trash-can" Mac Pro, and running it very hard, so I'm sure that has allot to do with it, but still if it's a certain plugin that I could easily replace with something else similar, that would be helpful.

Ok, that changes things but only a little.JSmith1234567 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 07, 2025 1:07 pm Hey thanks for both of these terrific suggestions!

The MP 6.1 can be upgraded with regards to CPU and storage but one must be careful to pay attention to heat management. I don't believe that's your problem. If, after this nut is cracked, you want more info, a few of us are happy to weigh in.
Do try my suggestions in the order I posted them incl. sending crash reports to MOTU if you're still getting grief from DP. You might be able to convince Apple to look at it but that's doubtful—Monterey was the last Supported OS for this machine and it's over three years old.
If MOTU can't figure it out, you're down to the way we used to do it for years: Disabling 50% of your plugins at a time in Preferences till you are able to isolate the cause of all this grief. Hopefully, it won't get that far.
