noise in Bounces
I'm updating some older projects (four to ten years) and getting noise in Offline Bounces. The bounced file plays OK at first, then loud noise crossfades in, lasts a few seconds and then crossfades back to a mostly clean mix.
Relaunching DP and/or rebooting and relaunching usually fixes it, but this is happening with an unnerving frequency in separate older project updates.
I've also had about eight kernel panics with my new-ish (Dec. 2024) Mini M4 & Sequoia. I don't recall any KPs with my now retired 2019 Intel MacPro. All these KPs have occurred while DP was playing or idling. IOW, I haven't gotten them using other apps when DP wasn't running.
I've also seen a tool icon disappear - primarily the Edge Edit tool that I use a lot. I can still edge edit, but the cursor doesn't change from the arrow to the Edge Edit icon. This can be fixed by doing a reinstall of DP after using AppCleaner to get rid of all the vestiges of DP. Reinstall without the deep clean hasn't fixed it on other tries. I think that implicates corrupted prefs, a cause of havoc on many types of apps (most notably, in my experience with Adobe Premiere).
I've gotten so many crashes on Offline Bounce using stock DP effects that I just don't use any of them, and replace them immediately after opening older projects.
All these seem to be related to the Apple silicon and Sequoia. I wasn't having any of these issues before I upgraded my hardware and OS.
I can offer this as a Tip, if anybody else gets crashing using DP effects: Kilohearts offers 33 "essential" plug-ins for free from their site that don't crash DP on Bounce. They offer a host for multiple effects and modulators for a reasonable (IMO) $29 called Snapheap.

Re: noise in Bounces
DP is also crashing reliably on opening projects older than one year. After relaunching, the same project will load without crashing on the second try.

When you open an old project, Save immediately. If created in an older version, DP will recommend that you save as a DP 11 file. Yes, you want to do this,

Re: noise in Bounces
Thanks. I've been pretty much doing that for years, except I do a Save As. I open old projects to remix them, so I keep old versions in case I want to revert back to something.mikehalloran wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 3:44 pmWhen you open an old project, Save immediately. Once the newer version is re-opened, I don't observe the same Crash on Open.

Re: noise in Bounces
I had this problem pretty consistently with some older versions of .Kontakt 7? Is everything up to date?

Re: noise in Bounces
I've seen a few mentions of this and I've never seen it. Also, wow, the stock DP plugs to me are one of the top reasons to stay with DP. I have very very few 3rd party plugs.

Re: noise in Bounces
Thanks. Most of the time, yes. I've got Kontakt 8 installed. But, I don't always have a Kontakt VI in all my projects (although, I use the Rick bass more than anything else.).
The only VI I've used on every project going back decades is PSP Vintage Warmer. Because of that, I think I'd have more problems most of the time if that was the cause. I just reinstalled it, and I'm still getting the noise on Offline Bounce. I don't get the noise when I disable Offline Bounce.
BTW, I'm also getting a lot of crashing on Quit.

Re: noise in Bounces
I see you're on M1 and 12.7.6. I suspect my issue is Sequoia and/or M4 related.
