Default Folder X updated to 6.1.5

Post by James Steele »

Default Folder X updated to 6.1.5

Not a music app, but something that I find indispensable day-to-day so sharing this here.

https://www.stclairsoft.com/DefaultFolderX/

Version 6.1.5:
• When using Quick Search, the contextual menu item for each file in the search results includes an "Open With" menu to open it with any capable application.
• In the Quick Search window, using the Command-M keyboard shortcut pops up the contextual menu for the selected result. • Command-O brings up the Open With menu.
• Corrected problems with Default Folder X's toolbar using Dark Mode in Adobe apps even when the apps are running in Light Mode.
• Default Folder X correctly supports the Command-= keyboard shortcut to minimize and un-minimize Save dialogs.
If you try to set a keyboard shortcut that's already used elsewhere in the system, you have the option to add it anyway.
When you add a folder to be ignored in Default Folder X > Settings > Recent, any recent files or folders that lie within it will be removed from Default Folder X's menus immediately. Previously, the setting only applied to recent items accessed after the exclusion was added.
• Due to a bug in macOS, it's possible for the system's list of recent items to contain files and folders that have not been accessed recently. You can make Default Folder X ignore these by using this command in Terminal:
defaults write com.stclairsoft.DefaultFolderX5 ignoreSystemSuppliedRecentItems -bool true
• Added support for the FileBot Java app.

SoundPaint updated to 4.0

I’m sure most have seen it, but Soundpaint has been updated to V4. It seems to focus on emulations of filters used in various synths.

Slate Digital Updates

Looks like several updates when you launch Slate Digital Connect. (First that app itself may update). Also, these are Slate Digital plugs, I think this was Steven's company before he sold it. There's also Steven Slate Audio which is still under his ownership that does Trigger, Steven Slate Drums, VSX, etc.

• Fixed a crash related to the iLok protection panel

Scaler 3 dropped today (discounts thru Apr 30)

Post by stubbsonic »

  • 100s of Chord Sets and Scales categorised by mood, artist and genre. Scaler 3 greatly expands the number of chord sets and makes them easier to work with.
  • Build Chord Progressions using the sequencer and get suggestions based on your currently selected chords.
  • Play your favourite instruments with VST/AU Plugin Hosting, including effects too.
  • With powerful Detection of MIDI and audio, Scaler can determine what key and scale you’re in and suggest chords that match your music.
  • Standalone mode for working on your desktop computer without needing a DAW.
  • Huge library of Motions lets you play chords as melodies, arpeggios, basslines and strums, and to modify them using the piano roll editor and global Note Properties..
  • Check the Circle of Fifths to find nearby chord substitutions and their extensions.
  • Solve your modulation puzzles in five ways: Progression, Secondary Scale, Modal Interchange, Mediants, Neo-Riemannian.
  • Experiment with Voice Grouping to keep your chords within a certain range or apply drop voicings, guitar voicing and more.
  • 50 Internal Sounds to play your inputs, chords and progressions, or load VST/AU instrument plugins.
  • Use Bind to Keyboard to control chord playback with notes, for one-finger chords, arpeggios and more.
  • Discover new chord expressions – chord substitutions, inversions, variations, voicings and extensions – in the Colors page.
  • Line up seven progressions with different motions to compare in the Sketch Pad page.

Dear Reality

Post by bayswater »

If you have one of their plugins, you should have an email telling you that Dear Reality will be merged into Sennheiser. The email provides a link to what they call a "licence-manager free" version that you have to get before July 31 for the plugins you have to keep working.

They also announce that most if not all of the Dear Reality "immersive" plugins are now free, and provide a link to an installer.

It all sounds a bit odd-- that the plugins are all now free. I hope this doesn't turn into the fiasco that resulted when Harrison was absorbed by SSL.

I got that email too and it looks like they're going to cease all development. I'm glad they're removing the licensing.

Also, I got a little confused with installation. The installer includes a folder of .dat files and instructions on manually replacing the ones the installer installs in order to use sample rates of 88k and above. I can't seen myself needing those.

For those who DL the installers manually, it might be worth checking to see what's been updated.

I hadn't checked since Feb 9th this year and all but 2 have been updated in the last 6 weeks.

Mac 2012 12C Cheese Grater, OSX 10.13.6
MOTU DP8.07, MachFive 3.2.1, MIDI Express XT, 24I/O
Novation, Yamaha & Roland Synths, Guitar & Bass, Kemper Rack

Pretend I've placed your favourite quote here

Those above all happened no more than a day or two earlier, if that. I tend to run the update apps every day.

I got the email. I tried two different email addresses. No response. Am I missing something? Or, should I wait?
