Conversion and Bug Question from New Mach 5 user

Post by logandrum »

Hello all, I just installed the Mach 5 today. I am using a G4 and Pt 7. The install went perfect and I got right to the conversion of my .gig, esx24 and akai samples. Most of these are already files converted off their original cd, because I intially converted everything to the esx when I was primarily using logic. So I tried to convert this Boesendorfer sample I had that started as an esx format, when I played it, the sample sounded really harsh, brittle and tinny...not what it's supposed to sound like. Also I am having trouble understanding where to save these newly converted sounds so they show up in the Mach 5. Luckily, even though the Boesendorfer sounds wrong, it is showing up. I converted a Steinway B to the Mach 5 and put it in the same place as the Boesendorfer, and it is nowhere to be found in the plugin? So any help would be great, Also the plugin looks and works great except that when a sample is loaded the corresponding name doesnt show up in the part window. Actually no names show up at all, nor do the numerical values when I change a filter, or any other parameter? This is obviously a bug, but how can I get this to change, thanks again, Brett

All Mach5 samples and patches go to one big folder that you select when you start using it.
Read page 46, it'll explain the file structure to you. :D

You need to download the latest update 1.2.3 from motu.com, this will fix the missing text problem

I've noticed the same harsh sounds when I convert gigasamples into Mach 5. In a previous post I called it distorted, but whatever it is, I've wondered as well if that is a conversion problem. I've heard these same samples in it's original format and they sound fine.
Is it something I'm not doing in the extraction/conversion process? As I said in yet another post, I really don't know what I'm doing so I may be causing the harshnest.
