Actually, the installer does the Rename DP thing for us... I just checked yesterday. I installed DP11.34 over DP11.33. 11.33 remains in the Applications Folder, now labeled as DP11.33. DP11.34 is installed as simply "DP11 and the Dock (I didn't change anything there) opens 11.34 when I click the DP Icon.

Thanks for that. I've used the renaming move frequently, but sometimes DP will update files that make the old version less reliable. I think that's more of a .x version update situation though (rather than .xx if you know what I mean).

It's really irritating that they left so many bugs unfixed. Or was OP's changelog not the full list? I didn't see it on MOTU's site.

Interesting. Perhaps those are prefs files? All plug ins are control surface bundles, etc are contained within the app.

All the better. It’s a habit I got into years ago and I still to this day append version numbers onto DP apps immediately after installation.

It might have even been from around the change from DP 10 to 11, do you remember that? Maybe Mike does...It was something about the old version losing some of its kinda system files when the new version replaced them. Actually if I'm wrong it's good, it seems I wasn't really aware of how I've been tiptoeing around that for a long time. Better the facts be known! I'm not one for superstition.

I'm not remembering when DP renamed the existing folder on an installation. Pretty certain It was there by DP 10.

The latest update of DP changes any files with the same name(s) in the shared folder. Reinstalling the older version changes them back. Because of this, it can happen that opening the older version will cause problems if not reinstalled first.

I guess then the bottom line is to save your installers. And actually I’m pretty sure MOTU makes installers of older versions available on their website. So probably seems not too difficult to backtrack if you don’t like a new version.

Did 6 straight hours of pretty heavy editing and mix setup across 10 sequences in the same project, no issues. Caught myself panicking because I wasn't sure when I last hit save a couple times, because I didn't have a crash to remind me.

I had the "Crash on Show Takes" problem, but it disappeared for me with the 11.33 update.
I stand corrected. I just realized the machine I was working on was actually still running 11.31. So I went directly from 11.31 to 11.34 and that fixed the crash issue. Sorry if it caused any confusion.

Side Chaining requires VST3 for some plugins... Arturia Vocoder for one. And ARA for Melodyne and Vocalign needs VST3, too.
No wonder I had trouble with that one! I couldn't figure out why the sidechain wouldn't show up, but I had defaulted to AU!

Yes, I've experienced and reported this also. Ny workaround is to turn OFF a number of tracks to reduce plugin & track load on CPU, but never saw this before DP11. Still running an old i7 mini updating this week to an M4PRO hoping the crazy more amount of CPU and RAM headroom will resolve this and many other issues.

That's a bit 'snappier' in my book.
I've noticed that DP always takes longer to launch after a computer reboot. (the whole magic of cache thing, I guess). Subsequent launches are snappier until the next reboot as expected. I've found that the first launch after reboot is noticeably faster with 11.34 and subsequent launches are about the same as before the update...on my system anyway.

11.33 would 'save as' or 'save a copy as' DP7-9 and open successfully in DP8 on a 2008 MBP under 10.11.6 with all plugins disabled.

11.34 exports loading in DP8 are returning unkown exception error - vector

started support ticket....

——-update ——-

MOTU can’t replicate the problem, and the export they sent back opens fine. Mystery continues….

Performer Lite is still at 11.33. Yesterday, I noticed that my copy was 11.32—when I asked it to Check for updates, PL reported that none were available. Ok... PL 11.33 loads much faster over Sequoia.
