Hello,
I have a pair of 828es's on my Windows PC, but a third that I'm using for my MacBook isn't working and - apologies - my Mac knowledge is a bit lacking. I'm having a problem with audio apps on the Mac not recognizing audio input.
I have an 828es connected via Thunderbolt to an Intel MacBook running Sequoia 15.3. It's been a couple years since I've used this laptop for audio use, so I updated the MOTU driver package (to 96343).
The device is recognized by the OS. I'm able to get audio out (YouTube, the Music app, etc.). The MOTU Pro Audio Control browser app sees the 828es. I reset the unit using the "Audio Interface" template in Quick Setup. The Routing section shows the typical routing matrix . I can plug a synth or guitar into any of the 828es inputs and use the Pro Audio Control's mixer to send audio to the main outs. No problems there routing input to output.
The issue I'm having is getting any audio app that I try (Gig Performer 5, Guitar Rig 7) to receive an input signal. Either app recognizes the 828es as an audio device and sees all of the front and rear inputs. They are also able to output audio.
However, the apps do not register an input signal even though I see the signal on the 828es front display.
Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

Re: 828es - no input to audio applications
Have you given the apps the permission to use the microphone?

100% for sure you did not give any of those audio apps permission to use the microphonebowczarzak wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 7:01 pm

To expand on what's been said earlier, go to the "System Settings..." in the Apple menu at the upper right.bowczarzak wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 7:01 pmThe issue I'm having is getting any audio app that I try (Gig Performer 5, Guitar Rig 7) to receive an input signal. In the Window that opens in the left pane choose "Privacy & Security" and then in the right pane (you may have to scroll down a bit) choose "Microphone." You should the see a list of installed apps that can accept audio input. Look for the name of the app you want to use and make sure the toggle switch is set to on. That should hopefully get you going.
