Someone’s gonna have to hard sell me on why I need Melodyne over what DP already does. I suppose I’ll be forced to investigate it via ARA in PT.

It's debatable whether you really need it, but it does do some pretty cool tricks... depending on how clean your source material is. Sometimes I think its pitch correction sounds better. Also, it can tune notes within polyphonic material. For example, say there's a chord playing and the third is a bit flat. You can grab that and then fix it leaving the other notes in the chord intact.

It can also be useful for transcribing certain material depending on, again, how clean the source is. Here's a pretty cool video David Das did a while back that demonstrates it. It's not perfect, but can get you close.

All I am typically inspired to use it for (over DP's built-in tuning facility) is when one note in a guitar chord is out of tune... the polyphonic fixin' can save the day!

I'm just so familiar with DP's pitch correction tool that I feel Melodyne sloooows me doooowwn.

Merge, not Bounce. Control Shift M
Yes, I meant to say merge - I had bouncing on my brain! Thanks

Isn’t polyphonic Melodyne a paid tier above basic? It was.

Yes... maybe two tiers up. They got me with "SALE." Polyphonic pitch correction has already saved the day on several occasions, making the investment worthwhile for me.
