A belated Happy New Year to all, and thanks to all contributors for the great info that this group continues to provide!
I have a question about track grouping and editing - insight appreciated.
I usually track electric guitars from three sources at once: a mic'ed cabinet, a DI input and through a Captor X (I take a raw and cab sim output from the Captor). When I start editing, I create a group for these 4 tracks to edit them together - no problem. However, the Captor X introduces additional latency that DP can't auto correct (since it's not a plug-in), so while the soundbites are time aligned, the audio is not.
If I blend the signals as they are, I get comb filtering from the phase difference between the Captor and Mic'ed cab signals (I rarely use the DI, its there as a backup or if I end up needing re-amping), so I must shift the Captor X tracks forward in time to align them with the mic'ed track.
Doing this "breaks" the group. I now have to manually select the time shifted tracks for them to rejoin the group for editing. Creating a new group from the corrected and uncorrected tracks doesn't work either - I'm assuming it's because I've shifted the soundbite start times relative to one another.
Anyone know a way to get time shifted tracks to rejoin a group, or is there another way to accomplish the time shift rather than moving the tracks relative to one another?
Time shifting "breaks" track groups - any ideas?

Hi,
I've been in same boat after phase correcting tracks. After you shift the captor x tracks forward trim cut the outer edges (start and end) of all the soundbites in the session in the same place. That should "fool" DP into recognizing the group as intact and selections should include all the designated tracks.

Excellent. Also, you can merge all tracks to same boundaries.pencilina wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 8:43 am Hi,

Awesome, trimming will do it rather than just using the scissors, which I've tried unsuccessfully. Thanks very much!
