Re: DP Wishlist
I just want ATMOS.

Send pan follows channel pan. If it's an option, I've not found it.

Re: DP Wishlist
As always, I'm wishing for a general tightening-of-bolts with regard to fixing bugs and making DP function smoothly with no crashes.
Next, is to go through and rework vestigial features to make them shiny and new again-- functioning, yes, but also with appropriate TLC to GUI.
And on that topic, yes, making some tiny elements of the GUI more readable on high-res screens and older eyes.
I personally would like an expansion of settings-- in particular, I would like to disable grid-snapping for lasso-selection and the playback-wiper; regardless of the grid-snap enable state-- in other words "never on".
I have mixed feelings about adding generative AI to the base DP function-list. However, perhaps it could be worked into MIDI inserts in ways that could be useful/interesting.
Noise reduction is a good idea.
Would like to see "Normalize to..." as part of the normalization function- so you could set a lower ceiling than zero.

It seems MOTU has decided this is not going to be a central focus, which is understandable. If it was practical for MachFive to be kept functioning in modern OS's, that would have been an obvious bundling-value-add. It is a fantastic sampler to integrate with DP.monkey man wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 8:40 pm More VI's... including a bread-and-butter one that can replace your typical ROMplers.
Ability to change clefs, ability to set measure spacing and bars per line on a per-line basis. DP already has a tool to change enharmonic accidentals. It functioned poorly for a while, but they finally fixed it. However, they do need to add a "courtesy" option-- so you can put an accidental or natural even when it isn't technically needed.
There is already a pitch matrix applicable to a region. It's in the transpose function-- which is best-in-class.

Again, AI is kind of a worm-can.

Who me? Yea, that's good advice for most of us.

I have invested heavily in VIs and plugins over the years; as such, my wishlist is for almost anything else. My wishlist is closer to Canavan's, functionality plus Atmos. I do understand having more built-in VIs and plugins could attract new users, but Logic is basically impossible to get anywhere close to in this area.
WAIT! How about a built-in DP plugin that allows one to use Logic instruments seamlessly in DP...? Oooh!

Re: DP Wishlist
I do agree with this. However, if MOTU could breath new life into MachFive and bundle it, that would be a pretty significant value. I don't have direct experience with M5, but it appears to be way nicer than the sampler that's in logic/mainstage.HCMarkus wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 11:11 am I have invested heavily in VIs and plugins over the years; as such, my wishlist is for almost anything else. Re: DP Wishlist
I’m sticking with my perennial list.
1. Multiple mixer views.
2. Drum maps not requiring a MIDI Device.
3. Spacial alignment of events in the MIDI Note Editor and a MIDI Track
4. Conductor tracks that stay with a sequence.
5. Have the primary outputs for VIs showing in Bundles
6. Make the setup of custom plugin categories a lot more flexible
The only bug that I see with any regularity is the export/drag to desktop/etc crash, and I have to assume MOTU will fix thos one. Many of the others seem to be related to poorly coded plugins, spotty macOS QA, and the vagaries of new processors.
If none of this shows up, I’m not likely to update to V12. I have all the VIs I’m likely to use,

Re: DP Wishlist
Same here.
Yeah, that was a bother until I got used to right-clicking and Exporting, which is what I do now. For the heck of it, tried to drag and drop to desktop the other day. Insta-crash.
Re: DP Wishlist
Yes, I've adapted too, and use the export command. Drag and drop crashes every time on both of my setups. The fact that something as basic as getting things in and out of DP doesn't work raises a concern that DP and macOS are not working properly together. While some of us only see drag and drop crashes, others seem to be reporting more general export crashes. I think it should be fixed.

Re: DP Wishlist
I reported it to MOTU quite awhile back. Pretty sure they acknowledged as a known issue.

Re: DP Wishlist
Rewire was a PITA, until it was discontinued and now I miss it terribly. Plus of course the fact that there's little to no hit with things like rewire on modern computers. Yes, a DAW hosting plugin would be insanely amazing. FL Studio has a VSTi that does this for their DAW, it runs audio, MIDI and sync from the main DAW.
In the case of Logic plugins, they're all available in Mainstage, so getting Mainstage to run as an AU/VST in DP.

M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.

Re: DP Wishlist
1) Same here.. although I'm a year into working with the format, and by now, I'm heavily vested in Pro Tools for it. Avid adopted it early, and they've made tremendous advancements, even in the last year. I don't see how MOTU could win out being so late in the game, but who knows?
2) We need an updated mixing desk, have for a long time now. Among the other suggestions for that, I would like to add +12 dB on the faders, over the +6 we have now.
3) I would really love to see a major update to the startup screen, where the files and projects are organized in a deeper way within DP, than just showing you "recents", which simply get published from the computer recents. Pro Tools, and even Logic have a much more robust feature set here. I would like to be able to have projects organized into folders within DP, so e.g. all the songs in this album are here, but projects in another album are over here, etc. Also, the new template menus could be organized into mastering, mixing, composing, Atmos, etc.

Re: DP Wishlist
Yeah, I use a bunch of the MainStage/Logic instruments live. That would be ideal, as MainStage is a mere $30.Michael Canavan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 7:35 pmIn the case of Logic plugins, they're all available in Mainstage, so getting Mainstage to run as an AU/VST in DP.It's all pipe dreams though.
Re: DP Wishlist
I use the Logic sample player (because I have an orchestral lib that only work with it) by setting up Logic as an external rack and accessing it from DP. Uses the IAC MIDI driver and any virtual audio driver to move things back and forth. MIDI is advanced slightly, and it's set up in a template for both DP and Logic. I don't use Logic that much any more, so maybe using MainStage would improve efficiency. Does it use noticeably less CPU than Logic?
I had originally set this up to use a UAD card when I got a Mac without slots for the card. Same arrangement was required to use older versions of Mixbus when it had nothing other than a mixing board. Also used it to host 32 bit plugins in DSP Quattro during the 32-64 bit transition.

Let me set it up with the current versions and then I'll list the steps. I posted templates for Logic and DP a few years back but they'll need updating,
