Note (Updated)... the developer has an installer app, but last time I used it I had some issues, so instead I download the plugs individually in user area. When you do that you need to move the plugins to the folders where they go and then remove from quarantine use the instructions in this thread:

Full Bucket Parology freeware synth

Post by stubbsonic »

Paralogy is a software instrument for Microsoft Windows (VST2/VST3/CLAP/AAX) and Apple macOS (VST2/VST3/CLAP/AU/AAX) simulating the paraphonic Crumar Trilogy and Stratus keyboards from the early 1980s. It is written in native C++ code for high performance and low CPU consumption. Main features are:

Close simulation of the original hardware
Fully "polyphonic" paraphonic madness
Organ, Synthesizer and String sections
Additional Phaser and Delay effects
Resizable user interface (not "N" version!)
MIDI Learn – all parameters can be controlled by MIDI CC
Plug-in supports Windows and macOS (32 bit and 64 bit)

I've not tried it as I'm stuffed to the gills with analog synth VI's.

M1 MBP; OS 15.3, FF800, DP 11.33, PC3K7, K2661, iPad6, Godin XTSA (w/ SY-1000), 2 Ibanez 5-string basses (1 fretted, 1 fretless), FX galore

More freebies from Plugin Alliance including bx_Meter

Post by mikehalloran »

Trying to keep up with Plugin Alliance, the sales, bundles with iZotpe & Native Instruments etc. is like trying to make sense out of a Keystone Cops movie — might be possible but after awhile, one gives up and checks back for bargains and useful tools. Even though NI now owns them, it still feels like the inmates are running the asylum when it comes to pricing.

I was on their site yesterday and notice that the Freebies page now has 19 plugs. Besides the eight bundled with iZotope and NI, there are now eleven more including a few that I bought over the years such as bx_Meter (I'm not the only fan of that around here). I've considered that an essential plug for years so now that it's free...

Yeah, you have to sign up for the newsletter, of course, but some of these are quite good. PA is one of those companies where you never know the real price on anything until you log into your account.

The PA-Installation Manager is pretty painless once you get used to it. You can enable anything you want on a trial bases and/or check the circle for My Products, then the box for All to download and install. Once in DP, add any of your plug-ins to a project and you'll see how to activate everything in one step.

If you go for any of their subscriptions, you can select three or more (depending on the level) annually to have permanent licenses. I cancelled my subscription last year and now pick up the occasional bargain that catches my attention.

My big gripe with it, and this is not an original thought by any means, is that it does not notify you of updates. PA really needs to do something about it. The only way I've found out about updates is to go to my account page on their website and painstakingly compare version numbers on PlugInfo with the version numbers listed there. I've also noticed, that they don't always keep those accurate. Some plugs show version 0.0.0, etc.

PA really needs to get their act together on that. Apart from that, however, I found that I've already purchased about everything I wanted (and of course WAY more than I needed) from them. I think I'm swearing off effects plug-ins for now, and am trying to resolve that I will focus more on hardware now. I'd like to add another rack in my studio for mic pres and various analog compressors, etc.

(Unrelated note, I'm really about appearances in the studio and wish I could find a nice, used Middle Atlantic 14/6 slant rack to match one I've had for years so I could put them side by side. They don't make them anymore, and I'm so OCD, that I'll probably sell the one I have for next to nothing so I can buy TWO of a different brand or ONE larger unit that is two racks side by side.)

For anyone who's curious:

I'm such a VI groupie, I'll probably install it. Seeing if I can get my plugin pop up menu to be as long vertically as my 4K monitor.

If you own (or—like me—ever owned) a Novation product and set up an account with them, you can get a free plugin through them: SoundGhost Texturize.
