Motu AVB & iPad Air M2

Post by Duende74 »

Hello, I'm new to the forum. Anyone using Motu AVB with iPad Air M2? My iPad can't see the audio interface.
I've tried changing USB cables, but nothing happens, I use AUM, Loopy Pro and GarageBand as software.

The audio interface is working flawlessly with my PC

Thanks for your help

Which interface? How are you connecting it to the iPad?

If you're connecting by USB, it should work, presumably, because I think most MOTU interfaces are USB-audio-class-compliant.

If you're connecting over the network, you should be able to control the interface over the network with an iPad Air (e.g. changing levels), but as far as I know, you won't be able to get audio over the network.

AVB requires a wired Ethernet adapter (not Wi-Fi) that's connected to your computer or other device over a PCI Express bus. A Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter can pull that off, but USB can't, because none of the USB Ethernet chipsets on the market support the required features. And although the iPad Pro supports Thunderbolt. the iPad Air does not, which rules out using a Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter.

Sorry, I'm just seeing your reply now, I probably have email notifications turned off.
I have an Ultralight AVB and a 1248, the problem occurs with both interfaces. I can control the mixer with a router connected to the Ethernet port, but I can't use the two audio interfaces with Audio programs (Aum, Logic) on the iPad, because the interfaces are not detected as inputs and audio output.

The issue is independent of the way I connect the card to the iPad. I tried connecting it directly with a USB B to USB C cable, I tried with the camera connection kit and also via a USB hub. The problem occurs in all three conditions. Sometimes the iPad sees the card, other times it doesn't. Even the times when the iPad sees the card, after a while it disconnects and the iPad no longer sees the card.
All this with an iPhone Air 13 from 2004. However, with an iPhone 12 both the ultralight AVB and the 1248 work perfectly.

Last detail, the iPad is one of the modern ones, with the USB-C port and not with a lightning one.

I'm in contact with Travis from support, I'll update you.
