Multi Bounce? Bouncing multiple MIDI

Post by Anthropy »

DP 11.33 Sonoma

Possible yet?

I sure would like to offline/real-time bounce multiple MIDI tracks - if I have 25 MIDI tracks going to separate virtual instruments I'd like to bounce each to their own audio track.

I know how to bounce 25 MIDI tracks to a single stereo audio track. In another DAW I can do what I'm asking about, but I'd rather use DP.

Thanks - Anthropy

Just record-enable each VI's track and go mate.

OK, I think I see what you're getting at.

You've got all of them assigned to a single stereo bus.

I don't have DP installed and it's been many years since I've used a DAW, so please forgive me if this sounds stupid:

What happens if you "de-assign" these VI's' outputs? Are you still able to record to their associated "tracks"?

I suspect the app won't allow you to even make the tracks / VI's' active in the first place (blue button).

Yes this has been a selection in DP's bounce settings for a long time now. you can literally select to bounce all tracks to separate audio files, like most DAWs allow these days.

I know how to bounce 25 MIDI tracks to a single stereo audio track. In another DAW I can do what I'm asking about, but I'd rather use DP.

This is a completely different request than above, same thing applies, you can select which tracks are included in a bounce and to have them all bounce to the main out.

You can also get DP to add that audio back into the project. I'm guessing you've been using much older versions of DP? I recall all this came about in v10?

Thank you Michael.

Is this the same for MIDI files with virtual instruments on them? I've looked through the manual and to the best of my pea-brain ability I only see how to do that with audio tracks, or if I bus each MIDI track separately and use each bus as a source. That sounds like a very long process. I've been using another DAW in order to be able to accomplish this with SelectMultipleTracks-Click Bounce- Click OK, and it's done. It's an extraordinary time saver.

Just to clarify - I want to bounce several MIDI tracks to audio - separate files for each track - all at once.

What am I not seeing?

Not sure I/we understand... Are you talking about. a single instance of, say, Kontakt with Bass, Cello, Viola and Violin VI's all running within? How does the other DAW do it? Automatic muting/unmuting of multiple MIDI tracks playing back from the same VI instance as It bounces each part?

If the above is your concern, routing the four Kontakt instruments to independent outputs would be your answer in DP.

If you are running one VI per instance of Kontakt, then Michael's approach is your answer.
