Defining where measures begin and end

Post by Jimi »

Does anybody know how to move measure numbers so they start at into the middle of a measure?

My piece has a fluctuating tempo that I have recorded into the Conductor Track. I currently have recorded audio and MIDI running off this conductor track.

Unfortunately, some of the bar numbers are not aligned as they should be to show where the first beats is.

I would like to tell DP where each bar starts but I can't seem to do it – see attached video.

I've tried:

1. Editing in Event List and changing/adding new bars but this doesn't work.
2. Penciling in meter changes in the Conductor Track, no dice either
3. Insert Meter Change in Conductor Change (this works for a second but then the tempo indicator disappears).

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance – any help much appreciated,
Jim

I think "Adjust Beats" might help you. There are some instructional videos about this, but I'm not in a position to look them up at the moment.

Or change Meter to 5/4 for the bar ahead of the video file example downbeat, then back to 4/4 on bar later. You can do this in the event editor if not working via other methods.

Thanks for the replies but maybe I didn't explain properly.

I have a single beat (bar 44 beat 5 in the video) that needs to be opened out somehow to become a whole measure in itself, so what is currently one single beat will become a whole 3/4 bar with 3 beats.

(The bar in question has no new notes, just a sustain, but I need to make it a 3/4 bar with a click so the musicians can be cued in correctly to the next bar.)

Hope that makes sense!

If you just need click, record an audio click and paste it where you need it.
