Help From Someone Who Uses DP with a Mackie MCU or HUI Control Surface

Post by JSmith1234567 »

Hi! I'm at the beginning stages of configuring an iPad TouchOSC version of Mackie MCU or HUI for DP, and have a few questions for anyone out there that uses one with DP?

It relates specifically to the Transport commands.

I found a copy of Mackie's DP MCU overlay, but am trying to figure out what is meant by some of the commands printed on it.

Most importantly to me are using the modifiers such as shift, command, etc. on the MCU/HIU to get at other transport functions on the MCU/HUI, what are the other possible commands?

But also;

Pre-Roll and Post-Roll?

Is "RTZ" return to zero or the previous maker?

A few other commands that have sort-of similar names in DP, what do they actually do on the MCU/HUI?

The overlay is kind of cryptic, and I don't have an actual Mackie MCU or HUI here, but I'd like to know what the other transport possibilities and options are in it's implementation with DP?

Thanks!

Hey thanks for that!

That is beyond terrific, and really helpful considering what I'm trying to do.

One question still, what does "Pre / Post-Roll" mean to a Mackie MCU?

DP has pre-punch / post-punch record options, but I doubt that is what this is for, as none of the DAWs were doing that till recently ("recently" being in context to the Mackie HUI coming out in like 1997?)?

And if I remember correctly, MMC has some kind of pre/post thing which I can't remember what that was, but I haven't used MMC in probably 25 years, and MMC is not (at least think it's not) part of the MCU/HUI protocol?
