MOTU 828 mkII (FW) Mac OS 12.7.5 Monterey compatibility?

Post by Cacus »

Hi all,

I’m currently on a 2013 MacPro (Trash Can) running Catalina (10.15.7) and a MOTU 828 Mk 2 (Firewire only) - Driver 1.6.83634 connected with the Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire converter.

All with no issues.

Oh and currently running DP 10 but intend to move to 12 when it arrives. :D

For other reasons it would be useful to upgrade to Monterey 12.7.5 which is as far as I can go.

So my question is will the 828 Mk2 FW work without issue on Monterey?

What are peoples experiences with it?

And or what hack were needed if any to get it working.

Thanks
Steve

If it works for you now, it will work then. No hacks but there are some installation issues to note.

You will find the latest driver under the 828mk3 Hybrid

There will be some security settings to deal with—nothing you haven't seen but here's a refresher:

At some point, DP will ask for access to the microphone. You must grant this—even though your 6.1 doesn't actually have a microphone. It's no longer automatic.

hello everyone,

joining this discussion to ask if there is a way to still use a MOTU 828 mkII USB 2.0 with Mac OS Sonoma?

thank you!

Same procedures apply.

Make sure that the cable you use supports USB 2/1.1. There are USB B to USB-C Printer cables on Amazon that support this since not all USB 3 cables do.
