I'm trying to figure out if the files I had recorded back in 2005 were imported from possible a CD or were recorded Digital Performer. I've kept the original DP project and have opened it up to see the source as "Recording". So my question, in all cases if the source is "Recording", then is it an original file as recorded in DP?
If it says "Editing" then it is a file that has been manipulated and may or may not be something that was imported.
This is important to me because I am trying to remaster my acoustic guitar tracks from back then to analyze my playing and perhaps find some gems. I have hundreds of files starting from year 2000 and these can be remastered to give a much better sound than whatever I was using to master the audio.
Back then, I would also spend time in a satellite studio recording on an Alesis Masterlink, then importing them from a CD into DP for mastering. I don't remember today if the files were recorded on the Masterlink or were done in DP.
For those interested, my mastering today consists of running Auto Align 2 on the files before running them through some FabFilter plugin. Sometimes the results are amazing, sometimes not so good but always better than what I had going back in the early 2000s.
