Spectrasonics Keyscape and Live Performance Mode problems

Today I started a new project and launched an instance of Keyscape, which I hadn't used for about two months.

Played a few notes on my MIDI controller into Keyscape..horrible CPU meter spiking, the sound was stuttered, DP became unresponsive.

I contacted Spectrasonics tech support and they got back to me pretty quickly. Apparently there is an issue with Spectrasonics plugins running in DP with Live Performance Mode switched on. As in..you can't do it. You have to switch Live Performance Mode off and then set Keyscape (or Ominsiphere 2, Stylus RMX, or Trillion) to "Run Open Instances of this plugin in real-time".

I followed the advice and sure enough, no more problems with Keyscape in DP.

I had a similar Keyscape issue that began a couple weeks ago. I wasn't using LPM. I got meter spiking and stuttering sound. Unusable.

I switched from the AU version to the VST version of Keyscape and now there's no problem. I don't know why.

I use Keyscape all the time. This problem didn't exist, and then it did. I don't remember any updates to Keyscape or DP before the issue started, but I'm not 100% sure of this.

I also had the Keyscape issue not in LPM. I my case, MOTU advised rolling back to DP11.31.
That fixed it, but I'm wondering why.
I don't want to be stuck in 11.31
