DP12 release date?
Any news or rumors in the wind?
I'm thinking of upgrading to DP11 for Windows, but of course don't want to do that just before the grace period for DP12 might begin.

Re: DP12 release date?
DP 11 is a little over 2 years old. It would surprise most of us if they released 12 before three years. My crystal ball says NAMM 2025 but it's just a guess.
Normally, MOTU announces at the January NAMM show (if they attend) though the release date can be anywhere from the following March – October. Again, normally, anyone purchasing the previous version between the announcement and release date will receive the update at no charge.
We are not MOTU so all we can go on is what has happened in the past. Any upgrade policy is at their sole discretion.
Funny, I came across the MOTU cutoff date for 11 a few days ago but can't find it now. There was no NAMM show in 2021.

Re: DP12 release date?
As usual Mike nailed it, the typical cycle is three years, you can look at the DP wiki and see the pattern.
It might be best to wait if the recent cycle stays.
January 2019 DP10
July 2021 DP11
that's 2 1/2 years, but older announcements have been almost exactly three years. If this pattern stays, they indeed announce DP12 at 2024 NAMM which would be exactly 2 1/2 years from DP11.

Re: DP12 release date?
Seems like Matt almost, sort of, vaguely implied an update was on the horizon recently in a webinar. Also, there have been major .5 updates (unpaid) in the past. I don’t recall how frequently those arrive in the cycle when they do arrive.

Re: DP12 release date?
Hopefully there will be an 11 update that addresses the Sonoma issue.

Matt did in fact mention that as a thing in the last webinar.mikehalloran wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2023 10:25 amHopefully there will be an 11 update that addresses the Sonoma issue.

Re: DP12 release date?
Hi, does anyone know if the DP12 release date was mentioned at Namm ? I am on DP10 and very hesitant to move on DP11 now…

Re: DP12 release date?
MOTU was not at NAMM this year and nothing has been mentioned. Even if a DP12 release was imminent, there is usually a grace period during which the upgrade to it would be free if you recently upgraded to DP11.aq wrote:Hi, does anyone know if the DP12 release date was mentioned at Namm ? Re: DP12 release date?
Yes but... Last time I upgraded to DP10 in February 2021. When DP11 came out 5 month later I was not elligible for the grace period. It was quite frustrating. I think I'll wait this time.

I would guess by June we see DP12.

Re: DP12 release date?
I just saw that you are on windows. From what I’ve read, windows doesn’t suffer from as frequent updates that break things with applications. So perhaps, there is no harm in waiting if DP 10 is working for you now. If you were on a Mac on the other hand, especially an Apple Silicon Macthen I would say you should consider doing it anyway. It’s up to you. If you are getting your work done in DP 10 then I suppose you can hang tight.

Re: DP12 release date?
That would be the longest time between updates ever.
With that in mind I'm sticking with June, plenty of times MOTU announced a beta at January Namm, then delivered May/June. They haven't done that in a while, preferring to announce and release on the same day or close to. June would put them at a bit over three years.

Re: DP12 release date?
Based on your chart, would be pretty much tied with the 9 to 10 period. I'm just hoping for a few more quick updates to address a couple of things in the meantime, regardless.Michael Canavan wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 12:22 pmThat would be the longest time between updates ever.

I'm thinking Atmos may be the next big thing for a paid DP update.
