issues post-repair
Posting for a friend:
My 14" MacBook Pro dropped and the lid broke. I had the lid replaced and since getting it back, DP 9.52 will not open, and none of the DP installers for 9, 10 or 11 will load.
For the DP on my HD, v9, I get "Digital Performer" is damaged and can't be opened.
For any of the installers, I get The Installation failed.
The Mac came back to me from the shop with Ventura, and I definitely did not have Ventura on it when I brought it in. Pretty sure it was v12.

Captain Obvious here
Ideally, your friend followed the advice I've always been told: "Make sure and back up you computer before bringing it in for repair." Of course, if it was unstartable, this probably wasn't done. If it was backed up, your friend could restore it to the state it was in before the technician made changes and possibly upgraded to a newer OS...As I said, just stating the obvious, which may not help much.....

Re: issues post-repair
Doug,
So, I should have included this. I booted into recovery mode, wiped the drive and restored a Time Machine backup for him. Same issues - DP won't launch, DP installers won't run. DP 10 installer should run on Ventura, right?
Thanks.

The repair guy swears he did NOTHING regarding software, which is, unfortunately, bullsh••.Tidwells@aol.com wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 6:26 am Captain Obvious here![]()

Re: issues post-repair
Wasn't clear to me... did your friend download fresh versions of the DP Installers?
Interestingly, my M1 MacBook Air just came back from the shop (Apple are keyboard replacement) with the OS updated from 13.5.1 to 13.5.2... everything was copasetic, so I didn't need to restore from backup.

It's possible that DP 9.52 will neither run nor install over Ventura. Rolling back to an earlier OS is often not a simple "wipe and reinstall" procedure.
Please post the exact year & model Mac we are talking about here. There are things that can be done but I need to the basics, first.
Is there another Mac available built 2012 or later? It may be needed for recovery.

I'll get the exact info after work. Thanks. There is another MBP that may work for recovery.mikehalloran wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 9:03 am It's possible that DP 9.52 will neither run nor install over Ventura. Rolling back to an earlier OS is often not a simple "wipe and reinstall" procedure.

We may simply upgrade to DP11 and call it a day.
