Motu Audio Interfaces -
Hi all
I've been trying to get my hands on an UltraLite AVB. It seems like Motu isn't manufacturing them anymore although they are still on Motu's site! Can anyone chime in here on this?

You can see explanations on sites like sweetwater’s. Supply chain issues.

They've supposedly been having major 'supply chain issues' since the pandemic started and it sounds like MOTU is a very low man on whatever manufacturers totem pole they live on. Last year, someone at Gearspace inquired with Sweetwater about one of the AVB interfaces and was told they were coming in 2024 possibly. Some of them have been on 'backorder' for well over a year now (I've been waiting for the 828ES to show up in stock this entire time myself). Somehow they've managed to release the entire lineup of "M" units though..

Re: Motu Audio Interfaces -
Seems like that would be brutal to MOTU's bottom line, being stuck like that and not being able to move your hardware? I don't know. Amazing that this is still going on.

Re: Motu Audio Interfaces -
Thanks guys. I jumped on the Motu wagon 1995 - 1996 by chance both with hardware and software. There have been ups and downs as can be expected but no serious regrets. I'm happy to hear that the fault lies elsewhere.
Take care

Love my 828ES. Bought it shortly after MOTU announced it. Current lack of availability had me concerned as to what I'd do if it stops working. I bought a spare Power Supply Module from MOTU (they are available for $30.) It is now on hand should one of the the components most likely to fail inside the 828 take a powder.

Very happy with mine too. I need to grab a power supply, too, while they are available. You never know when the policy on that might change, or they might not have any available.HCMarkus wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 11:33 am Love my 828ES. Bought it shortly after MOTU announced it. Re: Motu Audio Interfaces -
LOL I've been trying to get an 828ES for a little over a year now and nothing. Cant get a 16A or even one of the 24i/o's. M units seem to be plenty in stock though. Lately I'm thinking about scrapping the interface and going all ADAT, the LP32 has been hit or miss as well, so I may have to get the RME Digiface for more money, with no word clock or AVB (or even a headphone volume knob). Still looking at Sweetwater's same old 'Expecting these when we can get them' message for awhile. Must be something about a certain processor or component in the AVB units that keeps them from being able to make them.
The parts shortage thing itself is pretty much crap nowadays. I work for ViewSonic, we had the same thing happen to us 3 years ago too, we had to start removing HDMI outputs from our $3000 smart boards, cutting back on ports and features here and there on projectors, desktop monitors, etc. That lasted about a year and everything is back in full swing for the most part. We've even had a new generation replace those same smart boards this year too, along with being able to roll out quite a few new displays and projectors over the last 2 years.
Either MOTU gets their stuff from someone that has a lot more higher paying clients than they are so they get pushed down in the queue (repeatedly), or something bad has happened there. Been a MOTU guy myself since I bought my first parallel port MIDI Express XT back in 1999. Switched to their interfaces when the 828 was released and have owned all of those along the way (got the X now still). I'm hoping some magic happens soon and they start showing up again, I'd hate to leave them behind myself, as I've had nothing but rock solid experience the entire time with them.

Re: Motu Audio Interfaces -
Good idea. I contacted Motu, their customer service is top notch in my opinion. I ordered a power supply for my 828es. It should arrive shortly.HCMarkus wrote: ↑Mon Aug 28, 2023 11:33 am Love my 828ES. Bought it shortly after MOTU announced it.
