Opening old dp 7 files on newer computers
I'm trying to open old dp7 files on a couple of newer Macs.I believe they were originally recorded on Mountain Lion. The files are showing up as Unix executable files. They were originally recorded on Mac.(not windows)I've tried two different computers running both Monterey and Sierra.Does anybody have any ideas as to a way around this?

Re: Opening old dp 7 files on newer computers
I can still open DP 2.71 files created on my Beige G3.
DP 7.what?
How did you copy the files over?
Do you have access to the drive where these files were created?
What is the exact file name of one including the extension?
All of these are important.

Re: Opening old dp 7 files on newer computers
One thing that can sometimes mess things up is if you either uploaded the files to a server without zipping first, or you may have stored on a thumb drive that was formatted for Windows. It’s easy to do the latter, because the Mac will see it and let you put files on it.

Re: Opening old dp 7 files on newer computers
The project folders were sent to me zipped over a file sharing service(We Transfer)I'm not sure what version of DP 7. I do not have access to the drive where the files were created.I tried that but the original computer will no longer start. The icon in the project folder where the normal dp icon would be is titled Ernie. no extension. It is just a white icon with the top right hand corner folded slightly.Sorry I can't provide any more info but this is all that I have. Thanks for your response. If you have any ideas as to a solution I would appreciate it.
Re: Opening old dp 7 files on newer computers
I had a similar problem with some old files. I don't know what DP version they were created in. Then I noticed there was no file extension. I added the the .dpdoc extension and all worked fine after that. In my case it was that simple.mikehalloran wrote: ↑Sat Jun 17, 2023 5:28 pm
What is the exact file name of one including the extension?

Re: Opening old dp 7 files on newer computers
Try Phil’s suggestion first. If it works, problem solved.
Please note that I didn’t ask if you had access to the computer where these were created; I asked about the drive.
