Where is "normalise"?
Shift + Space, I know. But where is it in the menu?

It’s in the Waveform Editor. I don’t remember when it moved there (DP9?). Not at my Mac or I’d post a screen shot.

Re: Where is "normalise"?
There's another thread somewhere around here re Normalize being taken out of the menus. It's available via right-click after making a selection in the Waveform Editor. Maybe somewhere else too that I'm not aware of.

Re: Where is "normalise"?
Hi Mike, Hi CharlzS,
yes, I've read the posts, and now that I'm using a mouse (!) it's there. It doesn't show up when using control+click like in the old days, that was my problem.
Thanks a lot.
Happy to be here, this must be one of the last forums I'm participating

Re: Where is "normalise"?
Wasn’t that associated with MOTU’s move of destructive edits out of the main menus?mikehalloran wrote: ↑Sat May 06, 2023 8:11 am It’s in the Waveform Editor. I don’t remember when it moved there (DP9?).

Re: Where is "normalise"?
OK that answers that!
I was looking for it the other day.
It used to be in the audio menu?

Re: Where is "normalise"?
Yes and before that, somewhere else. That and Nudge have been around over the years.

Re: Where is "normalise"?
Wow I love this!
Probably the very first mention of "normalize audio" in the history of the web that DOESN'T devolve into the advantages or the evils of normalizing!
I am proud of all of Motunation!

I was just about to do just that, but you shamed me out of it.JSmith1234567 wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 11:39 am Wow I love this!

Record live performances in a single take with one mic direct to vinyl. It’s all downhill from there.HCMarkus wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 8:18 pmI was just about to do just that, but you shamed me out of it.JSmith1234567 wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 11:39 am Wow I love this!

Never! Cylinder recording is the only way.
Re: Where is "normalise"?
Innovation reached it's peak at the 8-track, but we've devolved since then.
Actually, I'm not ashamed to ask. Do you normalize your tracks? To what level? I don't but I go through track by track finding the peak volume and using a trim plugin in slot 1 to set the level to ~-18dB. BTW, normalize should be in the audio menu and/or the soundbites window and should be available to do on multiple files or batch. Auto gain could also be a thing like the new Audient sound cards have. Very convenient.
