Plugins not seen by DP

Post by MidiVeg »

Mac OSX 10.11.6, DP9.12

I hadn't opened DP for a couple of months. Now, although the software runs, it can't see any of my 3rd party plugins, some of which open with no problem as stand alone.

Most of them do appear in Plugin Manager. I've tried disabling and re-enabling them all, DP went through the motions of authorizing and said that all was ok, but still can't see them in projects.

I'm hearing that older operating systems will block access to plugins when an iPhone is attached, something about an Apple installed unauthorized software update. I got my first iPhone a month ago, this is the first attempt to launch DP since then.
Apple tech support is, of course, completely useless. I haven't yet heard back from MOTU.

All I've come up with is reinstalling the entire hard drive via Time Machine from a date before the iPhone. I'm hoping there's a less troublesome/risky solution.

Many thanks!

Did you post about this in a Facebook group? Looks like someone else did recently. I think this was some sort of issue with installing an OS update that was prompted when plugging in an iPhone to the Mac?

Yes, I think this was an Apple mess. I think your only options are either the TM backup, or update the OS. Not what you want to hear.

There are old threads about this. It has to do with the then-current MacOS and iPhones. Many of us were affected while others were not including myself. I don't remember the various solutions but the problem did go away on its own.

I see you are still using DP 9.12. I don't recall if 9.52 has this issue or not.
