Nitpicking here, but there's no such thing as an iMac G5 with an Intel processor. G5 refers to the PowerPC CPU inside. The PowerPC lineage (G3, G4, G5) is on its way out. Your new iMac has a Intel Core Duo CPU.

This is probably a little confusing for all that aren't obsessed with minutiae (like me).

You're right...you're definitely nitpicking!

So, here's an interesting little quandry for nomenclature--

Intel was up to so recently a uniquely PC term. So as we called older or current Macs by their processor name followed by their speed (ie: G5 2.5), it feels a little confusing just calling the new computers simply Intel 2.5. Doesn't exactly say "Mac", does it?

So, what's the "unofficially" official term:

MacIntel?
IntelliMac?
IntApple? :?
AppleTel?

At present, clarity seems entirely contextual.

I found "Apple-Intel" on Google today. :)

I just hope no one gets around to calling it Bill Gates' next acquisition!

DP Does work under intel

Just to clear the air, I have a 2.0Ghz Intel Core Duo iMac, and after installing the latest MIDI and audio drivers from MOTU, I installed DP 4.6 and MachFive 1.2.3 on the machine and everything works!
Yes, it can't handle much in the way of plugins and many audio tracks, but Rosetta is doing a fine job of making it run. You wouldn't want to start a huge project on this machine right now, but you can certainly do basic tracking or MIDI work.
I can't wait for the Universal Binary version. It's gonna smoke on this machine.
