Hi guys,
I'm brainstorming with the folks at SWAM to figure out why their instruments won't load on my iMac, using El Captain.
I'm using DP9, and I have been running VST plug-ins. They suggested I switch over to Audio Units to see if that makes a difference, but when I go Preferences>Plug Ins>Primary External Format, I can't flip from VST to Audio Units. Restarting the computer or DP won't show anything other than the VST's. Audio Units will never show up. Weird.
Granted my computer is getting older, but it works fine for all other software, besides SWAM.
The folks at SWAM spent an hour with me on Zoom today to try and figure out the problem, but no go.
Any ideas?

The only things I can think of are 32-bit vs 64-bit, and perhaps trashing some DP prefs.
M1 MBP; OS 15.3, FF800, DP 11.33, PC3K7, K2661, iPad6, Godin XTSA (w/ SY-1000), 2 Ibanez 5-string basses (1 fretted, 1 fretless), FX galore

I don't know why you can't switch the default to AU from VST. That's a problem that might be something to do with preferences, etc.
But you don't need to do this to try out a AU version. If and AU is installed, and it passed the test (and is 64 bit, etc), it should show up in your plugin effect chooser regardless of the default preference setting.

SWAM instruments are 64 bit.
After installing, did you shut down and reboot? With some plugins and VIs, this is necessary.
1. If not running DP 9.52, download and run the updater.
2. Make certain that you are running DP in 64 bit mode. You check this by running Get Info on the DP icon in your Applications folder and set to 64 if running 32 bit (this option is gone in Catalina and later). If you were running 32 bit, the SWAM instruments should now show up.
3. DP defaults to AU on the Mac. You can reset these in Preferences (see the manual) or trash the Preferences file to reset everything to default.

Re: Can't switch from VST to Audio Units
Thanks, guys, for the suggestions...
Yes, I'm running in 64-bit mode.
I'm a bit afraid to update from DP 9.1 to 9.52, in case my plug-ins and virtual instruments suddenly turn incompatiible.
I'm working on two album projects, and I've GOT to get those done before I take any such chances.
