Updated to MacOS 11, strange behavior from DP 11

Post by sigmon »

Hey folks,
Maybe someone here can help me sort this out. Just updated my system to Big Sur, MacOS 11 - At first DP 11 would open, sort of, the app icon appeared, but no windows. Couldn't save a new project, crashed if I tried to open an old one. Started up holding shift key, and did get DP open. Then loaded the audio system and it seemed to work, however, there are some strangely garbled text artifacts - have a look:

I deleted the preferences, didn't help, deleted the app, reinstalled... still the same.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

You must allow DP access to the microphone in Security. Otherwise,

In this order:
Shut down and reboot. If you still have a problem,

Reinstall DP, shut down and reboot. This will probably do it but, if not…

Do a Safe Boot by shutting down, holding the Shift key on start up. Log into your User account when prompted. Shut down and boot normally.

Start DP in Safe Mode by holding te Shift Key, then quit and restart normally.

Every once in awhile, I’ve had to reinstall a MacOS upgrade. Mojave was most problematic but I had to do it with one machine over Big Sur. If the above doesn’t nail it for you, that would be my next step. You can do this through the stand alone installer or by booting into the Recovery Partition and running Reinstall MacOS. How to get into the Recovery Partition depends on your Mac (with or without T2, Apple Silicon)

Thanks for the reply, Mike. I checked to make sure that DP had microphone access, and it did. I tried your suggestions, including reinstalling the OS, and I'm having the same text issues with the interface. I opened a techlink with motu, so we'll see what they say.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark here, because my first thought was to suggest you reinstall the OS, which you already tried.

Try going into the Language and Region System Preferences, change it to something besides English, and then change it back.

You could also try the old standby of creating a New User, and see if the issue persists.

You could try resetting your fonts with Font Book, and then reinstall DP.
