Re: The ProVerb Usage Thread
Thank you Shoosh. My pleasure.
Dave, I agree. IMHO it rocks and more than fits the bill. In fact, MOTU's makeover of the plug seems to have brought it fully up to speed... in one fell swoop. Impressive.
Interesting that complaints about the plug have all but disappeared. This makes sense as the majority pointed to its previously-pathetic file/folder-handling implementation.

Re: The ProVerb Usage Thread
I wonder if anyone can help....
I've fallen at the first Proverb library-building hurdle!
I can drag individual sound files onto Proverb and they get imported into the Project folder.
Folders are completely ignored however. Drag a folder full of IRs onto the waveform and...nothing.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Rob

Re: The ProVerb Usage Thread
I solved my own problem (see above).
My copy of DP has come up through the ranks, and 7.24 went on as an upgrade. I had previously organised my MAS plug-ins into folders, and this proved to be the problem.
The upgrade put all of the new and updated plug-ins at the root of the /library/audio/plug-ins/MAS folder. Meanwhile, the earlier versions were sitting in /library/audio/plug-ins/MAS/Reverbs (etc).
DP effectively ignored all the more recent ones in favour of the old versions. And, of course, the old version of Proverb didn't support the dragging of folders.
Two solutions worked equally well: either delete the old version of the plug-in from the sub-folder or drag the new one in to replace it.
Once I'd done this with all of the plug-ins then I was rewarded with an extra bonus - DP now starts in half the time!

Re: The ProVerb Usage Thread
Old thread, but seems like a good place to raise the question while building new systems:
How is your experience with the transferability of IR's stored in the 'projects' folder?
PV has definitely never seen IR's in the 'user' or 'shared' locations, when transferred to different computers with identical user and shared folders in place.
Is there another trick not covered in the manual?

I'm only finding a few cases where they actually show up on a different system, usually there's nothing that can be loaded in ProVerb as the 'projects' folder is usually greyed out once transferred to another system, though the IR's exist in the project folder, as described. PV showing 'default' is the giveaway that something's missing. I've resorted to identifying IR's by name in the comments section of the Tracks window, that way I can at least reload, if I notice!By keeping them with the rest of the files associated with the project, you don’t have to worry about losing them when exchanging the project with a colleague, archiving the project, transferring it, etc.

Re: The ProVerb Usage Thread
Only thing I can think of that should 100% work would be to add the IRs to the plugin so they're stored in the Usr / Application Support / MOTU / ProVerb / User bundle.
I haven't even tried popping them into project folders and pointing to them that way.

Re: The ProVerb Usage Thread
Hmm...
in ProVerb, they were installed by dropping folders on PV and selecting 'user' as location. They are indeed stored exactly where you say, on 2 different computers. Cue up an IR in PV on one system, save, transfer project to other computer, open, IR missing. Though it's in the same directory on both computers.
That follows what the manual suggests, that it's path specific to the computer it started on.
Following that, the manual suggests storing in project rather than 'shared' or 'user' should make it portable, and it is indeed portable in the file folders (Plug-in data/Proverb/project), but it's missing when DP is opened.
--------MORE-----
if you select 'reload all trees' in PV, THEN it shows up under 'project' assuming it was stored there. That's progress.
This still leaves another problem - multiple PV IR's in a project. Which one was active? Where? It still has to be labeled somewhere for reference, and reloaded manually.
--------THEN----------
possibly bug behavior.
I can delete the DP file, the autosaves, and the plug-in data folders, close DP, reboot, reimport, and it opens with the correct IR loaded. Hmmm......

Re: The ProVerb Usage Thread
Geez Doug, this isn't good news.
I've always assumed that copying my existing User bundle to the correct (app support) location will work perfectly when I upgrade to an AS machine.
Perhaps MOTU needs to be alerted as to what's (not) happening here. Being a built-in plugin, you'd think they'd get it sorted pronto.

'User' or 'shared' has never worked from one system to another that I've seen, I'm only now experimenting with 'project'.

Re: The ProVerb Usage Thread
Though I don't do so much recording/mixing these days, at some point, I shifted from ProVerb (such a clever name) to Fog Convolver. $69 USD. Never looked back, as the saying goes.

[EDIT} as of version 2.0, the bundled IR library now uses a proprietary ".atp" file extension. It is a much more extensive library than the v1 selection which was limited. I need to see if/how FC2 handles libraries now that this file format thing is a factor. Stand by.
