CC1 Bug in DP11.1? NOPE. RESOLVED.

Post by HCMarkus »

CC11 is passing thru to VI and getting recorded. CC2 is passing thru to VI and getting recorded. Other CCs also seem ok, except...

CC1... no such luck. Not being seen by the VI or recording. Not filtered out by the View or Input Filer. Seems like a bug.

Anyone else encounter this? Or have a solution?

Minor Bug: As is DP10.13, "Expression" field in Sequence Editor Lane is Blank. CC11 gets handled fine, just the label is missing from SE and in Lane

Both reported to MOTU.

Tried using CC Change MIDI Plugin to send CC1 via CC11 Peda. No luck.

CC1 (mod wheel) all normal here in DP11.1, HC. Gotta be something on your end. This would have been picked up on day-1 if it were a bug I'd think.

Thanks Dix. I'll see wha MOTU has to say.

Just now noting the project I'm working on at the moment (an audio mix with a little MIDI VI work I added) isn't letting me write volume automation to the track housing the VI. But I can write to the MID track addressing it. This project started in DP11.1.

Wait... the automation is writing, but the red Record indicator just isn't indicating when Automation is being recorded.

Oh, The Pain. Still, everything is workable, although the CC1 issue is a hassle.

Is this a converted legacy instrument track? Try it on a newly created track.

I did cuttime. Even tried a completely new project. Same result. Thanks for the thought though!

Wondering if it has something to do with my Keyboard (Roland A-800) setup, but I doubt it, due to the fact I can see the result of manipulating the Mod Paddle and a Fader I have assigned to CC1 when editing a controller number in Event List. And all other controller numbers are transmitting and recording properly from the A-800.

I wonder if using old style Instrument Tracks in the project would work? I wrote this in a different topic:
Also, there’s another trick if you want old Instrument Tracks in DP 11.1. Open DP 11.04 and copy and save an empty instrument track as a (global) clipping. Then close DP 11.04 and launch DP 11.1 and drag that old style Instrument Track from the clipping window into the TO. That way you can add old style Instrument tracks to new DP 11.1 projects if you want.

Thank You James. I like that trick, and am implementing it. But the CC1 issue persists. Rolling along regardless.

CC1 is the modulation/mod wheel parameter.
One of the most basic and necessary for basic synth recording.
Something must be amiss in your system.
Are you remapping CC1 somewhere?
I'm assuming you're recording a mod wheel on a synth track and DP doesn't get it?
Or, maybe more complex and I don't get it.
This will be solved.
CC1 definitely works in DP11.1
All is well

All true. I don't get it either. I can't get anything to respond To it in DP, but all other controllers are good.

If I'm remapping CC1, I don't know where. Any possibilities come to mind?
My controller transmits CC1 perfectly to Logic, so I think I've got that variable ruled out.

I'll get it sorted eventually I'm sure. Thanks everyone!

OK. It was me.

Console... I had assigned CC1 to L'otary Rotor Speed. In my template, so the assignment was everywhere.

Deleted the CC1 assignment and reassigned Rotor to Controller #43, and all is well. Until I need to use CC43 for some other vital function, I guess.

I am chastened, but happy. Thanks waterstrum for putting me on the right track, and everyone who gave me the fortitude to chase this one down.
