Authorize Audio desk 2 without CD??

Post by Re8et »

Hallo.
Macbook4,1 / Intel 64bit , OS 10.6 Snow Leopard.
I have the original Key for Audio desk 2 shipped with my Ultralite mkII.
but no CD. Downloaded from Motu Download.
Installer launched, insert name and key... it says leave CD inserted but there is no CD...
the installer just reset...
Tried put the installer on a DVD-RW to no gains...
Any idea how it could work???
tnx..

Your computer needs to read a hidden file on the installer CD to create the hidden Auth license file on your Mac. There is no workaround that I know. I don’t recall a separate AudioDesk CD; it’s the on interface’s installer. Pretty sure I tossed mine years ago.

Having a MOTU interface entitles you to a free license for Performer Lite if you’ve registered your unit with MOTU. Submit a Tech Link with support and they’ll put one in your account. Internet authorization; no CD required. The downside is that Performer Lite requires MacOS is 10.11 El Capitan to run.

There are other DAWs out there, some of them free but I don’t know what you can download now that runs on an OS that old.

Audio Desk was its own disk from what I remember. My 828mk2's came with version 3 (think the 828 came with the same but dont remember). I got a separate manual that had my serial number in it, along with a disc for it. I just gave all of it to the guy that bought my 828mk2 a year or so ago.

I still have the 'MOTU Firewire Audio' CD that came with my original 828 but its an old CD format from the OS 9/OS X days that MacOS no longer reads. Just keeps telling me 'This disk is unreadable by this computer'. But it also looks like its a CD-R too so maybe its just got bitrot. This driver cd here is only 367MB, and has both Windows and Mac software on it, and the Audio Desk stuff was almost a full CD itself.

I don’t recall the separate CD but I know that the 828mkII shipped with Adiodesk 2. I bought one of the last units on clearance right before the 828mk3 was announced at NAMM Jan. 2008 as was DP6. AD 3 shipped around the time of DP 7 a few years later and was a free upgrade if you owned AD 2, $149 upgrade if you only had AD 1.
