Mackie C4 Pro with M1 Mac/Monterey

Post by primeevolutionary »

I'm sure this is a dumb question, but, is anybody here using the Mackie C4 Pro DP11 on a M1 Mac on Monterey?

If you are, what is the setup?

I am successfully still using the MCU Pro and MCU Pro XTs, but, can't seem to find a way to get the C4 Pro to work.

The software version of the C4 Pro is v3.0.0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried running everything over Rosetta 2?

The C4 is long discontinued but it requires a working MIDI hub as far as I can tell. Other than that, I can't figure out what the issue might be. There are no current drivers or manual other than the Quick Start Guide on their web site.

Thanks, Mike!

Those are the things that I found, but, I don't know what the release candidate is either. The last C4 Commander software is PowerMac. I've tried straight MIDI and I've tried plugging it through my MCU Pro and XTs, but, I can't seem to get anything to really "see" the C4 Pro.

I tried to access it in DP as a Mackie Control, Expander (XT), HUI, Mackie Compatible, but, nothing seems to work and I can't find anyone really talking about the unit either. I know it's old tech, but, no older than the MCU Pro and XTs that still work great.

I found this on a German site, but, it's a few years old and doesn't get me too much further: https://www.sequencer.de/synthesizer/th ... ng.152922/

It seems to translate pretty well and the guy is onto something.

I downloaded a free trial of Logic and there is a way to choose the C4, but, it's not the Pro version. it seems to do something more than I was able to do in DP, but, I wasn't able to get it to be useful.

I tried a few more things in DP and got it to turn off MIDI record enable and in another way, echo the Pan row of the first eight faders of the MCU Pro. Again, nothing useful. The C4 Commander software seems to be the key, but, I can't find anything newer than PowerPC (I said PowerMac originally). Those "Release Candidate" downloads turned out to be C4 Commander updates, but, they don't work on the current OS.
