Re: Izotope R4 Reverb. $9.99. Was $299.00 ($289.01 off)

dix wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 5:41 pm$10 is a good price, but all the EA reverbs are officially abandonware. iZotope has said they won’t be developed further. Very irritating for those of us that bought them, but at least they had the decency to announce it rather than leave everyone to guess.
Good to know. Maybe I should have passed on it, but I expect due to fiscal realities I'll be driving this 5,1 for another year at least, so $10 isn't that bad provided I end up using it. I probably have way too many reverb plugs, but I just can't resist them. I bought UVI Plate last night for $64, however, I'm sure they'll continue developing it and port it to Apple Silicon.

I rarely recommend “free” plug-ins. They are seldom worth the time, but this set from the highly reputable McDSP seems worthwhile. Free for a limited time. https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/ ... 300freebie

I gave up. After step 1,322 of their process, I lost the thread.

Looks more complicated than it is. It’s a fairly standard download > iLok authorization scheme.

You have to disable your VPN first if you're running one.

If not, you won't get past step 1 - the email-and-name pop-up.

No vpn in effect. I completed the forms and got the email back saying all is done. But I can’t find a download link. THe only one that comes up has the regular price on it with the usual payment required.

I received an email from McDSP <uc.order@ultracart.com> and it contained my License Code in the itemized receipt area near the bottom.
Near the top it contained this info:
McDSP plug-ins can be downloaded from our web site at:

https://www.mcdsp.com/downloads/plugin-downloads/
Scroll down that page and look for "EC-300 Echo Collection v6." I'm not sure why the call it a "collection." Appears to be just one plug. Anyway, download the Mac Native installer.

As I recall, I ran the installer and then had to reboot for DP to see it as a plug. Then on the AU validation, a window opened up and I was able to follow the steps and validate it. I think it said something about enabling iLok cloud or something. I just went through the steps and after it worked, I quit DP, launched iLok manager and removed the authorization from the cloud and moved it over to my iLok dongle. It wasn't too difficult a process and it's a good plug.

As you explore the presets you'll see that there's three types of delays (hence a suite) Magnetic Delay, Digital Delay. and Analog Delay. The Digital Delay includes a massive list of speaker simulations and IR spaces that I think will be super useful.

Yes, I had to restart too before the plugin showed up - a new, intermittant behavior I've noticed the last year or so after installing plugins. I'm not sure if it's DP related or what. Also as a matter of course I now open DP in Rosetta after installing non-UB plugins to insure they are examined.

For me, new plugs and VIs sometime require a restart but often need a shut down and reboot before they load including this EC-300 Echo Collection v6.

I'm not sure if I first noticed it in Catalina or Big Sur but it definitely predated Monterey. It's a MacOS thing and unpredictable. First time
I noticed it, Native Access had updated quite a few plugs and VIs—all loaded into DP except for the Kontakt and Komplete updates which loaded after the shut down & reboot. I found that odd at the time but have now grown to expect it.

NoiseAsh FrozenVerb is on sale for next 13 days at Audio Plugin Deals for $19 and they throw in a choice of 3 bonus gifts. Re: NoiseAsh FrozenVerb for $19 (incl. free bonus gift)

Post by James Steele »

Just installed FrozenVerb. Well, as to be expected from a $19 deal it's not particularly remarkable. They have different installers for M1 or Intel. What's interesting is the adjusting the controls felt a bit sluggish/laggy. As for the sound, not bad. Didn't really come with many presets. I don't think this is something I'd use much of vocals, but I could see it used to give some room ambience on a electric rythm gtr bus. Also CPU hit is light.

Seems to be all good here on MacOS 12.2, but it should be noted, this suite isn't yet even Monterey supported officially. McDSP has confirmed Monterey/UB versions of all their plugins are in development, however.

I was skeptical, but tried the demo and bought it (for $20.70). I can get close to some of what I was getting a long time ago with the UAD-1 card on a G5 but have had difficulty reproducing since I retired it. Still, it’s a bit subtle. I liked some of the compressors that went over the top, and then you could dial them back to something listenable. Subtlety is overrated.

I snagged it for $20.70 but haven't tried it yet.

I did spend the next half hour updating my other PSP plug-ins — didn't realize I had so many and that five more now had iLok protection since the last time I checked. A few still use the License Files that have given many grief over the years so I'm glad to see that PSP is slowly replacing those and not charging version upgrade fees.
