828 mkII, ichat 3, os 10.4.4. no voip

hi!
i have a 828 mkII,
on a dual G5 2gig. running os 10.4.4 [everything up to date as it can be, that i know of]

i can't get ichat, or skype to see my 828.
the system sound see it.. even see the mic input sound. the audio/MIDI ultil is set up to all FW 828.. still. ichat and skype are set up to my 828. but, nothing when i try to connect with skype. and ichat won't even admit i have a mic hooked up!

i have NO idea.. can anyone help me out?

Had this very thing happen the other day... never used Skype before, but couldn't get Skype to play out my PCI 424/1224 setup. However, it accepts input through the 424. I think this is something that might have been broken with the 10.4.4 update.
