Plugin Bypass Automation (DP9)

Post by lampfilmusic »

I discovered how to record automation for 3rd-party plugins in DP. Each plugin’s automatable parameters is revealed, which is nice.

However, does anyone know how to automate 3rd-party plugins’ BYPASS switch off and on? That parameter is listed, but it's not clear how to record changed of it.

p802 of the DP9 manual mentions playing on the 3rd-party plugin during playback why the ‘record automation’ function for that track is on. I have tried this, but when I look for recorded bypass on and off points, I cannot see these appearing in the track’s automation lane for that plugin.

Surely bypass settings for plugins can be recorded in step-time or real-time, and viewed but how and where?

Thank you. :)

This works on some and doesn’t on others.

Open the plug’s GUI. With Latch and Record enabled on the track, toggle Bypass off and on. This will work or it won’t.

Many plugins introduce latency which is no big deal as DP normally compensates well but toggling Bypass off and on might mess with that. For that reason, I never do. There’s always another way to accomplish whatever I need to get done.
