Opening MachFive window in DP11 causes crash

Post by bkshepard »

I know MachFive is not supported in Big Sur. However, when I open a previous DP10 project that used MachFive3, everything--including MachFive--works fine until I try to open the GUI window for MachFive. As soon as I double-click the plugin slot to open the GUI, DP11 crashes every time. I tried it on several projects with the same result. Fortunately, I had been moving away from MachFive in the last year or so in favor of Falcon and UVI Workstation, but still have a few older sessions that use M5. As long as you don't attempt to open the instrument, you're fine. Otherwise... :vomit:

Hey Mike,
As I said in my first sentence, I know it's not supported in Big Sur. I was merely reporting that projects I had created previously that included M5 would run, but if you open the GUI, DP crashes. That's all.

Surely no one is expecting a Big Sur update for MachFive? I've pretty much made the transition to Falcon and haven't had M5 installed for a while. Even so, Brian's post reminds me to maintain a volume that starts up in Mojave in the event that Big Sur becomes necessary.

Yeah, I started moving away from M5 a year or so ago in favor of Falcon and UVI Workstation. I just had an issue where I needed to remix an older project that had used M5. Fortunately, in this case, both libraries were able to load in UVI, so I was able to proceed without having to re-record the tracks.
