Movie Window Mini menu missing- SOLVED!

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

After many weeks of searching, tearing of limbs, removal of hair and cursing the ancestry of every unicorn that ever lived, I found the conflict that was causing the movie mini and dropdown menus to disappear. I removed every last thing that could be causing the problem. Rewire, Zoom, Jamkazan, OBS, all 3rd party video related apps. All along, I had suspect that Logitech was the culprit and in the end it was. The last software I remember installing was for my Logitech webcam. I always hated Logitech's software, but I thought that maybe they might have gotten better, so I gave it a shot. Oooops!

FOLLOW THE MONEY

The error code associated with the problem was always the same: 2003332927. Today, I googled it and this site showed 4 results for the error code. The first three were audio related (getting closer). The last was one was a mediaIO error! Hot on the trail!

Image

I went thru every folder and subfolder in the main Library. I thought I had removed all things Logitech but buried in a subfolder was a tiny little file in Library/CoreMediaIO/Plugins/DAL/LogiCapture.plugin

Image

The culprit!

Deleted. Restarted. Voila! Fixed.

It was NOT a MOTU problem. It was a Logitech problem. The unicorn lives on. Damn the harpies; full speed ahead!

Glad you solved it. I just set up a new Logitech account for their Harmony Remotes, and it was one of the most painful software experiences I've had in about 10 years. I dowloaded the latest remote drivers that did not work at all. I ended up using MyHarmony from about 12 years ago and it worked when the "new" setup software (that looked like it was from Windows 95) wouldn't budge. Not sure if it is worth it, as Logitech hardware seems to have a 2 year lifespan.

I hear you. SO lame.

That said, I must say that I REALLY like my MX Master mouse. Having a horizontal scroll wheel ready to obey my thumb's every command is extremely handy. And I love the silent scroll wheel with real, physical inertia.

Glad you got it solved!

In my case, I recently installed Logitech's software for their Brio webcam.
I was worried, but it didn't mess with DP's Movie Mini Menu...
Love the camera and happy to report that the software didn't install the dreaded plugin of death.

Maybe they are getting wise to the problem?

That said, I'm happy you got your system fixed. :)
All is well

I've got a Logitech C920 camera installed with this software (for C930):

https://support.logi.com/hc/en-in/artic ... bcam-C930e

No problems with DP, (but I haven't tried running DP with the camera connected.) For me is was CamTwist that caused the movie window issues. Ran the CamTwist Uninstaller and all was again well.

THANK YOU! Deleting LogiCapture.plugin fixed my movie window problem.

I still have Logitech's Camera Settings app installed, which lets me control my C920 webcam. I was going to be disappointed to lose Widescreen mode of the camera during video chats if it came to that, but right now DP and Camera Settings seem to be compatible. It was just the LogiCapture.plugin that was causing mayhem!
