Buzz in Monitors cuased by Apple Display?!

Post by dubaifox »

I have been getting an annoying hum in my Mackie monitors recently, and after much trial and error, found that it seems to be caused by my 19" Apple Flat Panel Display.

The instant the monitor goes to sleep the buzzing dis-appears. Re-appears when it comes back on.

Any idea why this is happening?

Hi Dubaifox.

I have an Apple Flat Panel right next to Mackie speakers and have no hum with the monitor on or sleeping. How ever I had problems with a poor rca-cable(from console to nearfield spkr amp) which the monitor had a strong effect. Replacing the poor cable with a "pro rca cable" removed the noise.
Do You have any cables running near the Flat Panel?

i too had this problem....for me it was noise when i moved the mouse or when scrolling, ie when anything changed on the screen. turned out it was an external firewire hard drive!!! the manufacturer said it was not possible, but when removed from the mac the noise went away.....try rmoving external drives, and see what happens

Make sure all power cords are far away from the monitor and speakers. That fixed my buzz.
